ONLY YOU is a Mephisto Covenant book, about Phoenix,
the descendant of a dark angel, and Mariah who is of Anabo
decent. The Mephisto, are a group of brothers born to the
dark angel of death and Elektra, an Anabo. An Anabo is a
descendant of Aurora the first child of Adam and Eve who was
born before the fall of mankind and is free of original sin.
To help out these brothers who were born with a
predetermined fate in hell due to the actions of their
parents, God created the Mephisto Covenant; the covenant is
God's promise that if the brothers win the love of a woman
and love her selflessly in return they have a chance to
enter heaven. Only the Anabo can love the Mephisto brothers
because normal women are fearful of them. The Mephisto
Covenant books are love stories which take place in the
midst of a war where Phoenix and his brothers are up against
the eldest Mephisto brother, Eryx, who is collecting souls
for his battle to win Hell from Lucifer.
The story begins in a dangerous bar in Bucharest where
Mariah is working, unaware of being an Anabo descendant at
the time. Mariah is poor, working hard to save for college
while living in a one room apartment. One night at work
Kyros, Phoenix's brother approaches Mariah and talks to her
about her sister. Mariah and her sister were separated many
years ago as children and Mariah has always told everyone
she is dead, as a cover to keep her sister safe. Now Kyros
tells Mariah that her sister needs her.
Upon arrival at the Mephisto compound, she meets Phoenix.
Phoenix has been living in grief and guilt since Eryx, the
oldest of the brothers, killed Phoenix's true love over a
hundred years ago. When Mariah and Phoenix meet they realize
how damaged they both are and develop a connection that
begins to heal them. As the story develops, Eryx brings the
battle for Hell to a new level and Mariah and Phoenix make a
choice that will change their lives forever.
The world of the Mephisto is exciting and wildly
imaginative. In ONLY YOU, Stephanie Feagan touches on the
very difficult issue of child abuse, which she warns the
reader of before the story begins. It is an important issue
and well written, and ONLY YOU shows how strength can come
from such betrayal. The antithesis of the lives between the
children born to the dark angel of death and children born
free of original sin creates an engaging, electric
storyline. Stephanie Feagan has created a great concept that
keeps readers engaged and wanting more.
Raised by abusive relatives in Bucharest, Mariah learned to box up agonizing memories and put them in permanent mental storage. Now almost nineteen, she's steadily overcoming her past, but when an enigmatic stranger walks into the pub where she works and the trajectory of her life changes yet again, she begins to wonder if she'll run out of mental shelf space. The only females unafraid of the Mephisto brothers are the extremely rare Anabo, born without Original Sin. Over one hundred years ago, Phoenix's Anabo was murdered by his oldest brother and enemy, Eryx. Wrapped up in grief and guilt, Phoenix's only outlet is planning takedowns of those who pledged their souls to Eryx. When Mariah is brought to Mephisto Mountain, he's torn between his instinctive, powerful need to pursue her, and his certainty that he can never have her. Drawn into the world of the Mephisto, Mariah's mental boxes begin to fly open, and all that keeps her from slipping off the edge is her unlikely, sexually charged friendship with Phoenix. He's incredibly screwed up; she's completely broken. It would take a miracle for them to find happiness. Then Eryx brings the war for Hell to a whole new level, forcing Mariah and Phoenix to make a choice that will bind them together for all eternity, or rip them apart forever.
