Romance

CHOOSE YOUR HEART by Callie Hutton tells the story of Kerry MacKenzie, a midwife in Tulsa, Oklahoma, who marries her high-school sweetheart, Cody. They have a wonderful marriage, until the day Cody goes up for his flight lesson, and the plane crashes, killing him and his flight instructor. Kerry is devastated but has the overwhelming support of Cody's parents. One year after Cody's death, Kerry is starting to feel like she just can't move on. Her in-laws are smothering her, and every time Kerry brings up the possibility of dating again, she feels like she is betraying them by the way they react.

She decides that the only way to move on is to move away. She decides to move to Albuquerque, New Mexico. Far enough from Tulsa so her in-laws can't visit every day, but close enough that she can see them when she wants or needs to. She already has a job lined up in Albuquerque, so she packs up her stuff and off she goes.

On her way, she gets a flat tire in Amarillo, Texas, and of course her spare is flat as well. While standing on the side of the road contemplating walking into town, she is approached by a very handsome and sexy cowboy, Damian Greer. Here is where things get hot and interesting. Damian runs a cattle ranch with his family in Amarillo. He is a true gentlemen and tries to help Kerry as much as she will let him. He convinces her to let him drive her on to Albuquerque as it would be much cheaper and quicker than taking a bus and then renting a car. The chemistry between Kerry and Damian is instant.

CHOOSE YOUR HEART by Callie Hutton is a very quick read, at less than one hundred pages, but it really holds your attention and has quite a story to tell. The way Kerry tries to fight her attraction is, at times, very funny, and of course Damian doesn't help with that at all. He wants her badly and makes no bones about his feelings for her. She can't fall in love now. She has a plan to move to Albuquerque and become her own independent woman. Will she change her mind and her plan? Will Damian be there in Amarillo waiting for her? What should she do? You are just going to have to read CHOOSE YOUR HEART to find out. I know you will enjoy it as much as I did.

SUMMARY

Midwife Kerry Mackenzie wants to move on with her life. Her deceased husband's parents expect her to remain true to his memory, but at twenty-four, Kerry's too young to wear widow's weeds for the rest of her life. Eager to start fresh, she takes a job that requires her to move miles from home. But her independent spirit wavers when she's stranded along the way and a handsome cowboy comes to her rescue.

Ranch owner Damian Greer happens upon Kerry perched alongside her disabled car on an Amarillo highway and is instantly attracted to her. He comes from a family that moves quickly on matters of the heart, so when he observes her cool behavior during an emergency, he's pretty sure she's the woman for him.

But with Kerry determined to do things on her own, how can Damian convince her to abandon her plans and give them a chance?

Excerpt

The band had been on a break and started a new session with a Merengue. Damian hopped up and dragged her to the dance floor.

Kerry held back, laughing the whole time. “I can’t do these fancy dances.”

“Sure you can. Follow my lead.”

He took her in his arms, and within minutes, he had them spinning on the dance floor as if they’d done it together for years. Every time Damian turned her, he tugged her closer. The scent from the flower in her hair combined with the light perfume she’d used was an aphrodisiac.

He slid his thigh between her legs, and spun her halfway across the floor. Her skirt billowed out, and her curls danced in the light of the lanterns.

Kerry threw her head back, her throat muscles moving as she laughed. He did some different movements, and each time she followed him with ease. Her beautiful, hazel eyes sparkled and her cheeks flushed a deep pink.

Was this how she would look in the throes of passion?

The music reverberated through his body, tightening his gut as the woman in his arms held him captive. Her scent, her feel, her softness.

His gaze met hers, and her smile faltered as she searched his face, questioning.

The band finished the Merengue and moved quickly and easily into a slow number.

Damian cupped Kerry’s face and lowered his head. His lips pressed against hers, and she slid her palms up his chest to circle his neck. Slim fingers played with the hair at his collar. He turned their fused bodies slowly in a circle and ravished her mouth. He pressed against her lips with his tongue, seeking entrance. She opened, granting him access to the sweetest nectar he’d ever tasted.
