Derek Blackwood is a vampire, a different kind of vampire
you might say. He is the son of Mara, Queen of the
vampires. Born not made. His life has been good, but lately
he's been a little restless. So on one evening he skips out
from a family gathering and heads into NIGHT'S PROMISE.
Sheree Westerbrooke believes there are vampires, she
stopped saying it for fear of ending up in the loony bin,
but she knows it and she's going to find one. This rich,
single and bored girl is about to head for a club
that "caters" to vampires and finds herself one.
Derek is immediately attracted to Sheree, so much that he
asks to meet her again. And as he gets to know this girl,
he wants more. Sheree is thrilled with finding her vampire,
but even more so in finding Derek.
The road to love and happiness is never a smooth one, but
there is something horrible about to show its face in the
midst of them trying to walk this rocky path. For deep in
his genetics is a curse that is about to explode and may
change him forever ... he may no longer be the man Sheree
has
come to love but a very frightening monster.
NIGHT'S PROMISE dives right into the heart of the story and
holds you until the last thrilling word. After reading
Night's Mistress, I wondered about the baby born to the
Queen of the Vampires and I am thrilled to say he's here.
Author Amanda Ashley not only gives us Derek's story but we
get to look into the continuing life of Mara and Logan.
Derek and Sheree's story has the angst that is more usual
in a contemporary but it works in this book, because added
into the usual romantic problems there are hunters, vampire
wannabes and the added danger of Derek's curse. Ms. Ashley
stated on her website that she had thought the story of
Mara would be the last of the Night series but that Derek's
story wanted to be written. I am glad it did. I hope she
might be able to squeeze out another in this amazing
series, but whatever she writes I will be reading.
Derek Blackwood is no ordinary vampire. Descended from a
bloodline as old as Cleopatra, and blessed with unearthly
powers of seduction, he is everything Sheree wished for -
and more. When he takes her in his arms, she is
powerless.
When he kisses her neck, she is his. But when the full
moon
rises - and passions flare - something is unleashed in
Derek
that he's never felt before. Something wild. Something
dangerous. Something no vampire can control or
stop...even
for the woman he loves.
