Mystery Cozy | Mystery Culinary

Phyllis and Carolyn decide to enter some of their goodies in the contests at the State Fair when they learn that one of their favorite cooking shows will be there.

Sam will be entering the Spam competition. Carolyn is planning to enter a cookie entry. Phyllis alone decides to try out for the funnel cake competition. The three of them work tirelessly to perfect their recipes.

When the State Fair starts they all make the trek to stay in Dallas with Carolyn's cousin. Every one is enjoying the fair and their visit with Peggy, until the funnel cake competition starts. This year is the first time that the competition has been opened to amateurs. The professionals are not happy to have new competition.

When Peggy wins with her recipe, she receives an invitation to be on the Joye of Cooking show. When Joye Jameson, the host, dies from eating her funnel cake, Peggy must determine who the real killer is.

Peggy doesn't lack for suspects since Joye was not as popular with her crew as she was with her fans. Peggy comes close to being arrested for murder. She has no one inside the Dallas police department and must depend on her own wits to solve the mystery.

If you like recipes with your mysteries, Livia J. Washburn is an author you will want to pick up. Her mysteries are well plotted with likable characters and so much good food on offer that it is hard not to get hungry as you read the books. I've been reading this series since the beginning and I always look forward to the newest book.

But Phyllis’s moment in the spotlight is spoiled after Joye suffers a deadly allergic reaction from one bite of her funnel cake. Now she’s gone from top entry to top suspect.
