Fiction

Henrik "HP" Pettersson is bored. After the adrenaline rush of playing The Game, he's now living a hedonistic lifestyle while trying to remain incognito. After all, any notice of HP on the grid will bring him right back to the attention of the Game Master and pull him once again into the middle of a live video game where HP has become the target. Unfortunately, HP seems to be a magnet for trouble and a quick fling soon turns into a mess that could cost HP everything.

BUZZ: A THRILLER is the second book in a thrilling tale of suspense where nothing is as it seems... or is it? Anders de la Motte ingeniously crafts an overview of the events from the first book, Game: A Thriller, that enables a new reader to jump right into the series while adding another layer of intrigue to those already familiar with GAME: A THRILLER. I love how Anders de la Motte takes the theme of the Game and continues to add depth to it. If you haven't read the first book, I would suggest reading it if only so that you can get a grasp of just how clever the entire concept is for this series.

HP is a likable loser (although it takes a while to warm up to him in the first book). Even when he tries to do something right, things just go wrong for him. His sister, Rebecca Normén, has been a paradox from the start of the series but we are beginning to see some of her inner demons emerge. One of the things that is so unique about this series is that the characters are not as important as how the Game affects them and their subsequent behaviors. In BUZZ: A THRILLER, we see a lot of the longer term effects on HP as he continues to question what is real and what is being forced into reality by the requests of the Game Master. The ending is nothing short of brilliant!

BUZZ: A THRILLER is another stunning thriller from the clever mind of Anders de la Motte. The Game is a clever psychological experiment but the facts we uncover in BUZZ: A THRILLER are nothing short of mind-blowing, and all the more fascinating and scary because they sound plausible. I cannot wait to see what devious plans Anders de la Motte has in store for us in the third book, BUBBLE: A THRILLER. BUZZ: A THRILLER is highly recommended!
