Thriller

Cody Miller has a bright future ahead of him with rich and beautiful fiancée Madison. He's highly intelligent and will soon join her father's corporate firm. Then one night it all blows up in his face, literally, when he makes one small mistake that changes his life forever.

After awaking from a coma, Cody finds he's horribly disfigured and barely existing. All his plans for a wonderful future with Madison have turned to ashes, making Cody a bitter man. When he learns that Madison blames herself for what happened to him, Cody finds it difficult to reassure her otherwise. Then Madison disappears as Cody's life takes a bizarre turn. He starts experiencing strange, disorienting dreams that won't go away. His memories are split into two different realities that seem to be tied together. The one truth Cody does understand is that Madison is now with an evil presence that takes people who've made mistakes and promises to fix their problems. He then takes everything from them in return, and Cody can't allow that to happen to Madison. Will Cody's solution to save Madison solve their problems, or will it make things worse?

Alan Ryker's DREAM OF THE SERPENT is a complex, heavily detailed dissertation on just how far a person will go to save someone they love. Ryker's disturbing theory incorporates an ancient being, who calls himself Ouroboro, as he thrives on poor souls who've made horrible mistakes and/or decisions in their pasts that adversely affected everyone they loved. It's quite a thought-provoking plotline concept.

SUMMARY

Cody Miller is on the brink of having it all: an MBA, a high-powered job in corporate finance, and the girl of his dreams. And then one mistake, one unfortunate accident, takes it all away in the blink of an eye. His future, his health and his hope—gone—up in flames, leaving him the victim of an unimaginably horrific injury.

Upon emerging from a coma, Cody discovers his life and plans have been shattered. As he struggles to find the strength to go on and a reason to live, he slowly begins to realize things may not be as they seem. His life has changed more than he could've ever imagined, but someone…or something…may be working beneath the surface…changing the world around him, altering lives and procuring victims…an ancient evil that hides in plain sight and destroys as it consumes.

To uncover the truth, Cody will have to forget everything he thought he knew about reality in order to salvage his sanity and save the life of the woman he loves.

How much would you give, how far would you go, what would you sacrifice, to save the person you love more than life itself? From deep within the flames, Cody Miller is about to find out.
