"Gritty Yet Romantic Adventure Awaits"

Fresh Fiction Review

Dangerous Seduction
Zoe Archer

Romance Historical | Romance Paranormal

Zoë Archer delivers another gritty and passionate book in her Nemesis, Unlimited series with DANGEROUS SEDUCTION.

Alyce Carr and her family are caught up in the endless loop of work and debt to the copper mine that provides the only employment in their village. Somehow the spark of wanting something better for her people stays alive, and is wafted into flame by the new man in town, the man who says he can help them.

As one of the founders of Nemesis going undercover, even as a mine worker is something Simon Addison-Shawe finds well within his skill level. His respect and admiration for the tough and determined Alyce Carr is no surprise, but his feelings are more powerful than he's ever experienced. Risking the mission by wanting something more than partnership in the operation is unacceptable yet his feelings are impossible to ignore.

Archer's Nemesis, Unlimited series is a revelation to readers more used to standard Victorian romance. Her heroine works breaking rocks all day and worries about rancid butter, not whether or not her dance card will be filled. The hero is of the aristocracy but other than the money and entrée to levels of society used to further Nemesis Unlimited's goals it is more a detriment than a positive in his pursuit of Alyce's heart.

Although the books illuminate a more realistic view of Victorian England, the stakes are correspondingly higher, the clever machinations of Nemesis to right the balance are felt more deeply by the reader and the romance at the core is still believable and satisfying. DANGEROUS SEDUCTION is the second in the series, following book one (Sweet Revenge) and Winter's Heat, a novella numbered 1.5 in the Nemesis, Unlimited series.

SUMMARY

In Zoë Archer's Dangerous Seduction, Alyce Carr has no time for the strange man in her little Cornwall village, no matter how breathtakingly handsome he is. Life in Trewyn doesn’t allow for much fun—the managers of the copper mine barely provide the miners and their families with enough food. Outsiders are suspect and flirts are unimaginable, but Simon Sharpe is as keen as his name…and Alyce can’t ignore him for long. As the founder of Nemesis, Unlimited, Simon Addison-Shawe is well accustomed to disguise and deceit. Yet he’s not prepared for Alyce’s dogged defense of her people and the injustices the copper mine has dealt them. With Alyce’s help he can change the fate of an entire town, and convincing her to join him is only part of the thrill. Together, they ignite a desire in each other much too powerful to deny. But at what cost?
