Young Adult Romance

Rachel Young has followed all the rules and tried to be everything her family wants her to be. After all, she knows she's nothing more than the replacement for the daughter who died, Colleen. Her secret love is for cars and the speed she can get out of cars. Unfortunately, this love leads her into some huge trouble... but it also introduces her to Isaiah. Isaiah Walker is everything she shouldn't like and yet Isaiah is the only one who understands her. Can Rachel and Isaiah have a chance at love when everything is stacked against them?

CRASH INTO YOU is an emotionally charged read that takes readers on a wild ride- literally! Rachel is introduced to the world of street racing and drag racing and the potential benefits and pitfalls of both. I was a little leery of a novel that walked so close to the edge but Katie McGarry does a great job at showing readers the dangers without moralizing.

Isaiah's story is heartbreaking, even more so as his story unfolds. On the outside, he's the stereotypical bad boy but he's had some hard knocks during his growth through the foster care system. By contrast, I had a difficult time liking Rachel until close to the end of the story. Despite Isaiah's faith in her, she seems quite spineless at times and it was hard watching her constantly beaten down by an overbearing and quite dysfunctional family. However, I thoroughly appreciated the focus on panic attacks and the effect they can have on a person's life. It's going to take quite a bit for Katie McGarry to endear me to her brother, West, for his upcoming story!

CRASH INTO YOU is geared more for young adults as older adults will find themselves questioning the judgment calls made by all of the teenagers in the tale- even as they know the scenarios are more than realistic. CRASH INTO YOU is the sort of gut wrenching tale that leaves you in knots as you wait for the ending, questioning whether the characters will get their happily ever after. I sure hope that we eventually get to see the minor character, Abby, have a story of her own!

SUMMARY

From acclaimed author Katie McGarry comes an explosive new tale of a good girl with a reckless streak, a street-smart guy with nothing to lose, and a romance forged in the fast lane The girl with straight As, designer clothes and the perfect life-that's who people expect Rachel Young to be. So the private-school junior keeps secrets from her wealthy parents and overbearing brothers...and she's just added two more to the list. One involves racing strangers down dark country roads in her Mustang GT. The other? Seventeen-year-old Isaiah Walker-a guy she has no business even talking to. But when the foster kid with the tattoos and intense gray eyes comes to her rescue, she can't get him out of her mind. Isaiah has secrets, too. About where he lives, and how he really feels about Rachel. The last thing he needs is to get tangled up with a rich girl who wants to slum it on the south side for kicks-no matter how angelic she might look. But when their shared love of street racing puts both their lives in jeopardy, they have six weeks to come up with a way out. Six weeks to discover just how far they'll go to save each other.
