DEATH, AND THE GIRL HE LOVES by Darynda Jones starts with Lorelei away at boarding school is Maine. This about as far away from her home in New Mexico as her grandparents could send her without sending her to another country. She is not happy about any of this, especially since she could not say goodbye to any of the people she loves, including Jared. School is not easy, she is the new girl who started in the middle of the semester and is there on a scholarship, which makes her more of a freak than she already is. Lorelei has caught the attention of the school bully Kenya, who is never without her switchblade and likes to show it off to Lorelei.
Lorelei is so homesick, and now with a threat on her life she figures the best thing to do is run away in the middle of the night. Lorelei makes it back to New Mexico and her friends are happy to see her, but mad because they were not able to say goodbye. Here is the start of all the plotting and planning on how to fight the evil that is coming to end the world. I won't say too much more because I do not want to give away any spoilers.
DEATH, AND THE GIRL HE LOVES is a fantastic book and an amazing story to end this trilogy. MS. Jones really got it right. When you're finished reading this story you will not feel cheated that there has to be more, all loose ends are tied up. The chemistry between Lorelei and Jared sizzles in this story and their bond becomes even stronger. As well as her bond with her friends and the other characters in the book.
Lorelei matures emotionally from a teen to a leader, who leads her friends into a battle that no one is sure they will survive. If you have not read this YA series by Ms. Jones I recommend you put it on your list of reads. Even if you are not a fan of YA, the Darklight series is well worth your time.
From Darynda Jones, the New York Times bestselling author of Death and the Girl Next Door and Death, Doom & Detention, comes Death and the Girl He Loves, the exciting third book in her new young adult series Darklight
The fate of the world is not something a girl wants on her shoulders, and that is especially true for Lorelei McAlister. Unfortunately for her, that is exactly where the world’s fate has decided to take up residence. Lorelei has seen firsthand the horrors that lie beneath our everyday world. And those horrors are getting her friends killed. Because of this, she agrees to leave the sanctity of her hometown and is sent to a different world entirely. A boarding school. But even here she is being watched.
Someone knows what she is. What she carries inside her soul. And on top of that she’s seeing visions. This is nothing new for Lorelei. But these visions are something more: death, destruction, and the end of the world. Lorelei must face the fact that there are people who want her dead, and no matter where she goes, no matter how far she runs, the lives of her friends and family are in mortal peril. Lucky for her, her friends and family include the handsome Angel of Death, a fiercely protective half-angel, and a ragtag group of loyal supporters who aren’t afraid to get a little dirty in the name of fighting pure evil.
