THE PREY picks up right where THE HUNT left off....
Gene, Sissy, and the other four boys are on the run from the
vampires. Humans (called hepers) are considered practically
extinct and the vampires are unable to resist the lure of
their scent, even if it means guaranteed death for the
vampires. All Gene and the other humans have are a few
mysterious leads from a man known as The Scientist, a man
who has promised a land of milk and honey where humans can
live safely and without fear. Will they find a safe haven?
THE PREY is the spectacular second installment in The
Hunt
series. I strongly recommend reading the first book, The
Hunt, prior to starting THE PREY. Secondary characters have
been developed in the first novel that play small but
important pieces of the story from Gene's perspective. One
thing I particularly like about THE PREY is that Andrew
Fukuda doesn't waste a lot of time recapping what happened
in the first book. Instead, Fukuda jumps right into the
action and keeps the fast pace going until the very last
page.
The world of The Hunt series is continuing to expand
with
THE PREY. Andrew Fukuda crafts an interesting vampire lore,
as the vampires are fairly ordinary, albeit emotionless,
until they scent human blood. However, THE PREY shows us
that vampires are not the only dangers in the world nor are
they the most diabolical creatures out there. Andrew Fukuda
does a great job at showing us just how far some are willing
to go to adapt and survive in a world that has been
decimated for humans.
I was eagerly awaiting the release of THE PREY and I was not
disappointed! The third book can't get here soon enough as I
can't wait to see what happens next. We end THE PREY with a
slight cliffhanger- more of a revelation actually- and I'm
curious as to just how Andrew Fukuda intends to conclude the
series. THE PREY is a young adult book you don't want to
miss!
Don’t miss the electrifying second book in the must-read
trilogy of the year!
With death only a heartbeat away, Gene and the remaining
humans must find a way to survive long enough to escape the
hungry predators chasing them through the night. But
they’re not the only things following Gene. He’s haunted by
Ashley June who he left behind, and his burgeoning feelings
for Sissy, the human girl at his side.
Their escape takes them to a refuge of humans living high in
the mountains. Gene and his friends think they’re finally
safe, but not everything here is as it seems. And before
long, Gene must ask himself if the new world they’ve entered
is just as evil as the one they left behind. As their
enemies close in on them and push Gene and Sissy closer, one
thing becomes painfully clear: all they have is each
other…if they can stay alive.
Chilling, inventive, and electrifying, The Prey is the
second book in Andrew Fukuda's The Hunt series.
