Women's Fiction | Mystery Woman Sleuth

A DIET TO DIE FOR is the first book in a new series by Sarah Steding. It is the story of Jen Stevens, an event planner in New York City who works at the Yummy Channel. On the night the network executives are honoring their number one diva, Bess Brantwood, for her one hundredth episode of Bess's Bakery, no one can find Bess and Jen is seriously freaking out. Bess would never miss her own party and the next thing you know, Bess shows up in the bottom of a dumpster.

For the next two weeks Jen's life is crazy and so are her feelings for the sexy hot detective named Alex. He is investigating Bess's death and seems to have the hots for Jen or At least that is what all her friends are telling her. I was immediately caught up in their budding romance and fell in love with Alex and how sweet he was to Jen. All the characters in A DIET TO DIE FOR are fun to get to know and Sarah leaves lots of room for them to show up in coming books.

The personalities of the chefs at the Yummy Channel are very funny and you can't help from laughing out loud. The comment on the front cover is Does This Murder Make My Butt Look Big.........how can you not laugh at that?

Jen is trying to lose weight and the things she endures while working at Yummy Channel are so funny. You can tell that Sarah has been on the diet wagon as most of us have because she was spot on in describing the feelings Jen was having while craving all the fattening food. A DIET TO DIE FOR teaches you that you better have a sense of humor while dieting and working at Yummy Channel or you will go out of your mind.

I'm really looking forward to reading the next Skinny Mystery! As a bonus, Sarah has included some of the recipes Jen and her friends made, in the back of the book. I just love a good food mystery and Sarah did not disappoint. I thought Jen was totally relatable and I could feel her pain while she was working around all those delicious cupcakes.
