Romance Suspense

In RENEGADE by Lora Leigh bridal shop owner Mikayla Martin has had somewhat of a bad year. She has witnessed a murder but nobody believes her. Elite Ops agent Nikolai Steele is only doing a buddy a favor by talking to the crazy lady that witnessed his friend kill somebody but when Nikolai takes one look at Mikayla he knows he's in trouble. By trouble I just don't mean protecting her.

I enjoyed reading RENEGADE but wish I could have enjoyed it more. I liked both of the characters and how intense the plot was but, I thought there was a weirdness to RENEGADE.

When RENEGADE first opens it doesn't really catch your attention, and to me was a little boring. I also didn't like the fact that nobody would believe Mikayla about who she saw because she had a spotless reputation and never lies. The person in question, Maddix Nelson has an airtight alibi and is someone the witness knows. So it basically goes around in a he said she said and Nikolai must find out who is lying.

RENEGADE had some great points to the story both characters were hot and very easy to love. The story line was easy to follow even though it was really intense. Lora Leigh's writing style is fabulous and the way she describes the characters and the setting is something I liked about this story.

Overall I enjoyed RENEGADE but I felt like it was missing something and that missing something could probably give it a spark to make it a great book.

SUMMARY

As a bridal shop owner, Mikayla Martin helps make women’s wedding dreams come true. Her own life, however, has become a nightmare since she witnessed a murder—and got an up-close-and-personal look at the killer. What’s worse: She knows she knows him. But the police, after doing an alibi check, don’t believe her. It’s up to Mikayla to prove them wrong…and do whatever it takes to solve the murder by herself.

Elite Ops agent Nikolai Steele, code name Renegade, is asked to pay an old comrade a favor. This friend swears he’s no killer—and Nik believes him—even though he’s been mistaken as one by Mikayla. So Nik goes to set her straight…but the moment he lays eyes on the fiery and determined beauty, he knows he’s in too deep. A woman this irresistible can only mean trouble and, sure enough, after sticking her nose in one too many places, someone wants Mikayla dead. Now, in this novel from Lora Leigh, Nik must find a way to keep her safe, clear his friend’s name, and find the real killer, who remains on the loose…
