GOODBYE TO YESTERDAY by Wanda E. Brunstetter is the first
book in
her new series, The Discovery. It is a six book
series and each book is 128
pages. In GOODBYE TO YESTERDAY you will meet Meredith and
Luke
Stoltzfus. Luke is laid off from his wood working job at
the furniture store
and they are just getting by. He needs to find a new way to
earn an income
so he can take care of his newlywed wife. Just when he is
more depressed
and worried that nothing is going to give, he gets an offer
from his Uncle in
Indiana.
At first, Meredith does not want Luke to travel all the way
to Indiana by bus
on the treacherous winter roads. She is so afraid something
is going to
happen but Luke convinces her that he is only going to be
gone for a few
weeks and that he will be fine. She tries to keep herself
busy until he gets
back. If she doesn't, she will kill herself with worry.
She cleans their house
from top to bottom the first day. Then the second day she
goes to her
doctor for an issue she is sure she has. After she leaves
the doctor she
really can't wait to talk to Luke and tell him what is going
on. But she won't
do it on the phone. She must wait until he comes back to
Pennsylvania.
How is she going to be able to wait so long to tell him? You
are going to
have to read the book to find it! I'm not giving anything
away.
Wanda sure has a way with pulling you into the lives and
struggles of
Luke and Meredith. I was instantly wrapped up in their
lives and problems.
There is a big cliff hanger at the end of this book so I
suggest you have
book number two, The Silence of Winter ready to go before
you finish this
one.
I always enjoy Wanda's books and find them very
inspirational.
GOODBYE TO YESTERDAY does not disappoint. I really enjoy
these mini
novels as it breaks up a regular length novel for those
people, who may not
have the time to devote to a full size book. What a great
idea. It's a perfect
way to introduce Amish Fiction to a reader who has never
read this genre
before.
GOODBYE TO YESTERDAY proves my point once again as to why
Wanda Brunstetter is one of my favorite Amish authors.
Join Meredith and Luke Stoltzfus, an Amish couple who are
faced with the greatest challenge of their young lives.
Financial struggles. Arguments. A confirmed pregnancy. A
last-minute trip to South Bend, Indiana. A drug addict on
the run. A deadly encounter at a Philadelphia bus station.
Will their love and faith be enough to bring them back
together again, against all odds?
