In book three of her Wishcraft series, Heather
Blake's spunky yet vulnerable heroine Darcy Merriweather is
plunged into another murder investigation. This time the
victim is loved by (almost) everyone, a side benefit of his
particular witchy craft. In a case tangled in the thorns of
a black rose and a mysterious spell Darcy needs to pull on
all her ingenuity to solve the mystery before she also
becomes a target.
Blake's Wishcraft series is a solid dose of light
and
frothy paranormal mystery with more than a hint of romance.
She manages to blend the elements of the various fantastical
inhabitants of Enchanted Village with a firmly grounded
whodunit, providing a wonderfully readable series. THE GOOD,
THE BAD AND THE WITCHY is perhaps the best of the three,
with Darcy and her sister Harper both settled in their new
hometown with solid romantic partners, the thread of mystery
takes center stage and the lives of the other inhabitants
are even more thoroughly explored. Don't get me wrong,
books one and two were just as enjoyable, but it is always a
pleasure to read a series that settles in and matures
without losing any of its charm. I highly recommend Heather
Blake's books for anyone who enjoys a quality cozy mystery,
especially If you want to add a bit of magic to your day.
