Bear claw eating were-bear Howard Barr is a daytime
bodyguard for vampires. Watching his friends fall in love
and start families has gotten Howard thinking about his
own. Banned from ever returning to his home in Alaska,
Howard is working on a way to go back. Finding a way to
return home isn't Howard's only problem; there's also the
family curse he has to worry about. A curse he didn't have
much belief in until he shook hands with his celebrity
crush and activated it.
Elsa Bjonberg has always stood above the other girls,
literally. At 6'2, Elsa's no wilting flower, which is
perfect since her job is renovating houses on her TV show.
When she meets Howard on her newest job, a man who towers
over her, she can't wait to get to know him, until they
touch. Elsa always thought the stories her aunts told her
about a curse were just that, stories. Knowing that the
family curse is real now, Elsa doesn't know who to trust.
Howard has had a crush on Elsa ever since he discovered her
TV show. Meeting her in person only emphasizes to him that
she's the perfect girl for him. Now he just has to get past
the pesky family curse they both share and prove to Else
he's the perfect guy for her. When Howard's plans to return
home become complicated though, Elsa may just lose her
chance with the one guy that's wild for her.
Oh handsome, hunky Howard! Kerrelyn Spark's thirteenth
addition to her Love at Stake series, WILD ABOUT YOU,
features were-bear Howard Barr, a favorite character from
the series. Though usually depicted in the series as shy
and quiet, Howard finally comes out of his cave when the
object of his affection is within reach. Elsa has found her
match in Howard and it's very entertaining watching them
fumble around each other. In typical Sparks fashion,
there's plenty of action, humor, delightful characters and
a delightfully engaging plot.
Many people have complained that they think this is just a
filler book since there's nothing in it in regards to the
battle with the malcontents. I happen to disagree with
that. Yes, there's no battle with the malcontents, but
Sparks used this book as an opportunity to give us a
glimpse into the lives of the characters we've come to
love. Their insecurities, their worries, all the things
that make for everyday life. I think the series is evolving
even further than it already has and there will be some
books that aren't all about the vampires and their fight
with the malcontents. I, for one, look forward to more
books. This is a great series and I don't want it to end
anytime soon.
It's not every day that Elsa Bjornberg feels fragile,
not when she hosts a home renovation show where she can
effortlessly demolish a kitchen. But from the moment she
meets Howard Barr, this bear of a man makes her feel like
a woman. And the way he looks at her, as if she was a pot
of honey he'd like to lick...
Howard is not like most men. For one thing, he's a
shapeshifter. And he always thought his celebrity crush
would never amount to anything more than drooling at Elsa
on the TV. When his meddling vampire employer gets
involved, the star is suddenly within his grasp—and
within a hair of her life. For an ancient curse forbids
their newfound love, and Howard is suddenly torn between
his desire for her and his desire to keep her alive.
