Tiffany Warren is forced by her mother, Rose, to leave
New York City and stay with her estranged father, Franklin.
Rose and Frank have been separated for 15 years, since
Tiffany was three. There has always been a mystery
surrounding the reason for the sudden uprooting of Tiffany
and desertion of her husband to move from Montana, insisting
Frank is not to see Tiffany again. Her three sons, Sam,
Carl and Roy remained with their father, only visiting New
York periodically. An attempt on Frank's life is at the
bottom of the desertion and never revealed to anyone,
including Frank.
Because of a feud with the Callahan family over water
rights to their ranch, a truce was arranged by Rose with
Zachary Callahan. His oldest son Hunter and Tiffany were
promised to each other in marriage as children. She is
visiting to meet her attended, with no intention of marrying
him, but only to pacify her mother. Now Tiffany devises a
scheme to pretend to be a housekeeper in the Callahan
household when the circumstances are surprisingly made
available to her. Secretly assuming the duties of
housekeeper and cook in a house full of men and a totally
unkempt house, teaches her there is more than being waited
on by a lady's maid. What she doesn't expect is to fall in
love with Hunter. Of course, Hunter thinks he is attracted
to Jenny Fleming, the housekeeper who changed her mind over
taking the job. The pert and proper little city girl finds
the gun toting, horse riding uncivilized cowboys are not
what she thought they would be. Rose is the only one that
can settle the feud and lead her daughter to find the life
she refuses to believe is for her.
ONE HEART TO WIN is truly an exciting romantic tale of a
strong
willed and sheltered young woman learning the hardships of
the wild western days on a ranch. I was really drawn in by
the story line and the wonderful characters. As usual,
Johanna Lindsey has been true to form in creating a most
delightful and entertaining story. I was so enthralled with
what would happen next that the story was nearly read in one
sitting. This extraordinary author is one of my favorite
and never, ever fails to bring a new exciting story alive
with characters I can relate to and a story that possesses a
fresh new plot. Keep them coming!!
#1 New York Times bestselling author Johanna Lindsey
presents a passionate novel of hidden identities, family
secrets, and a love that transcends a fifty-year feud, set
in the majestic ranchland of 1880s Montana Territory.
Some young ladies marry for money and social standing, a few
lucky ones marry for love, but Tiffany Warren is marrying to
end a feud. Honoring her mother’s wishes, Tiffany
reluctantly travels west to meet her estranged father and
his enemy’s eldest son, rancher Hunter Callahan. Once the
Warrens and the Callahans are united by marriage, both clans
will stop squabbling over a disputed strip of land. But in
the chaos of a train robbery Tiffany seizes a golden
opportunity: By assuming the identity of her father’s new
housekeeper she can live with the father she never knew and
assess his true character, as well as that of the
neighboring cowboy to whom she is betrothed. But, too late,
Tiffany discovers that the rivalry between the Warrens and
the Callahans has escalated when the Callahans steal the
Warrens’ “housekeeper” as soon as she steps off the train!
Now Tiffany, masquerading as Jennifer Fleming, finds herself
living in the enemy camp, under the same roof as her fiancé.
All too soon she learns her intended is a handsome, sweet-
talking charmer whom she has to fight off because he can’t
keep his eyes—or his hands—off Jennifer. After Tiffany’s
charade is exposed, she refuses to marry Hunter, not even to
end the hostilities between the families. How can she wed a
man who is in love with another woman? As Hunter goes about
claiming his rightful bride-to-be, he knows that although he
loves two women— proper, elegant Tiffany as well as spunky,
passionate Jennifer—he has only one heart to win.
