Sarah Rawlings knew better than to get involved with the "bad boy" Ian McLaughlin. His twin, Colin, and brother Alex are handsome and ornery guys and their sister Kenzie Is Sarah's closest high school friend. The McLaughlin clan is from Scotland and carries that brogue and proud demeanor of the Scottish. Becoming involved with the sexy Ian is against her father's wishes but her heart cannot deny the love and burning passion he installs in her. That is, until she finds him in bed with a close friend.

Sarah leaves Whidbey Island and heads to Japan where her father is newly stationed with the Navy. Now eleven years later she is heading back to Whidbey Island upon the death of her grandmother and inheritance of her home. The one stipulation is that she must live in the home for one month before it becomes hers or will by default go to her sister with the same stipulation. Now divorced, Sarah has left her 8 year old daughter with her mother for the duration. Intending to avoid Ian, he is front and center at her departure from the ferry. Reluctantly their hot and sensual affair, neither wants to pursue this line but sizzling sex makes the heart beat fast and the inevitable cannot be denied. Sarah's mother shows up by surprise with Sarah's daughter, Emily, who has been kept hidden for the obvious. When Ian meets the child and realizes she is actually 10 and not 8, plus has the telltale McLaughlin's green eyes, he is outraged that Sarah has kept his daughter a secret all these years. As they try to determine their future goals for their shared daughter, secrets begin to come out that change all their lives forever.

I so enjoyed this first story of The McLaughlins. The brothers of the family are "bad boys" that capture the heart of the women. Sexy Scottish men are hard to ignore; especially the bad ones! I can barely wait to read more stories of The McLaughlins yet to be written by this extremely talented author. The tale is vividly detailed so hold on to your seats for the toe curling sexual encounters that will make any woman wish for her own highlander! Do not miss this one! Great entertaining story.

SUMMARY

In high school Sarah fell for her best friend’s older brother—one of the sexy, Scottish McLaughlin boys. But a painful betrayal showed her she’d been a fool to give her heart to a bad boy. At least it made it easier to leave him and move halfway around the world when her Navy dad got stationed in Japan.

Eleven years later, the death of her grandmother has forced Sarah back to Whidbey Island for a month. It’s the length of time she must stay in her inherited house before she’s allowed to sell it, take the money and run. But when she sees Ian, bad as ever and still looking like sin on a stick, she can’t keep her mouth from watering.

One look at Sarah stirs up the regret lingering in Ian’s heart—and never-forgotten desire lingering in his body. He should walk away, especially since divorced single mothers aren’t his style. But when she starts showing up at his family’s pub, he can’t resist a little casual seduction for old time’s sake.

One thing quickly becomes clear, though. The heat between them is causing an avalanche of secrets and betrayal and nothing will ever be the same.

Warning: A bad-boy hero who’s good with his hands, a heroine who’s trying to be good. Contains liberal consumption of Scotch whisky, a Highland Games competition, men in kilts wielding large poles, and a potential Sarah McLaughlin of the non-musical kind.
