Lorelei James surprised readers with the presence of a long
lost Mckay in Gavin Daniels, an Arizona businessman. Gavin
is divorced with a teenage daughter named Sierra. When
Sierra has a recent brush with trouble, Gavin takes no
chances and moves them to Wyoming where he hopes to fit
into his newly discovered family, the McKays. Though
different in tone from the rest of the Rough Riders books,
James still maintains the high level of sexual tension and
chemistry that is sure to blow reader's heads off!
Rielle Wetzler is a single mother herself and knows the
difficulties that Gavin is currently going through. Two
years ago, Rielle sold her B&B to Gavin, but when Gavin and
his daughter move in to claim what is rightfully theirs,
she feels reluctant to leave the home she has built for
herself here. Gavin and Reille decide to share the house
for the time being, and that puts them in very close
quarters with one another. Will the attraction between them
burn out before they act upon their desires?
One of my favorite things about this series is the focus on
family. Throughout the Rough Riders series, James
incorporates richly nuanced characters into a familial unit
that makes it so easy for readers to fall in love with
them. However, with Gavin, he is an outsider looking in so
the whole book is a different perspective on the beloved
McKay and West family. It acts like a breath of fresh air
to an already invigorating series.
There is a lot of emphasis on the parent- daughter
relationship between Gavin and his daughter, Sierra and
Rielle and her daughter, Rory. As two single parents hoping
to explore this newly discovered passion, they not only
have to take into consideration their own feelings, but
also the feelings of their children. It's an interesting
dynamic and one I enjoyed reading. You can see the immense
character growth and I thought it was lovely that Gavin
finally found his place of comfort in the McKay family.
GONE COUNTRY is the one rare case where the romance
sparkles just as much as the sex sizzles!
Arizona businessman and long-lost McKay love child Gavin
Daniels has been awarded sole custody of his teenage
daughter Sierra for one year. In order to steer Sierra back
on track after a brush with the law, he pulls up stakes and
heads to Wyoming, looking for support from his ranching
family…even if he isn’t sure where they fit in the McKay
dynamic. He’s prepared for every contingency with the move:
the less-than-enthusiastic response from his daughter,
learning to run his corporation remotely, but he’s thrown
for a loop when his new housemate, Rielle, is a whole lot
sexier, funnier and sassier than he remembered
