Eli Landon's family has lived in Whiskey Beach for generations. They are
outstanding citizens of the community who have grown a business, and
who have the respect of all. Eli is no different, or is he?
Eli has for all intents and purposes abandoned his heritage until two very
different and very tragic events happen, each of which will now play a very
important part in forming his future. First his soon to be ex-wife is found
murdered in the home that they once shared, and Eli finds himself the
prime suspect, and even a year after her death the shadow of his possible
guilt still hangs over him. Secondly his beloved Grandmother is found lying
at the bottom of the stairs in the family home Bluff House
Fortunately she is going to recover, but it will be some time until she can
return to rule over Bluff House as she once did. In her absence she asks
Eli to tend to her house, and if she can also pull off a little matchmaking
while at it...all the better!
Abra Walsh is a somewhat new resident in Whiskey Beach. The only word
that I can think of to describe Abra is eccentric, but that word really doesn't
do her justice, because while Abra is somewhat of an independent thinker
who is working a variety of jobs she is by no means stupid, or void of a
calm rational manner. Abra is in fact a strong woman who knows what she
wants, and has her own unique way of getting it, while having you not even
necessarily realize that you are giving in to her demands.
WHISKEY BEACH is full of fun unique moments between Abra and Eli,
and these are truly some of the best scenes in the book. Abra and Eli both
came to Whiskey Beach with not only their physical baggage but more than
their share of emotional baggage, and while Abra was well on her way to
healing it did take Eli to fully heal her, and it did take Abra and her unique
way of facing life to put Eli back on the road to a life fully lived, and out of
the shadow of his wife's murder.
Nora Roberts has long been a favorite author of mine, and I anticipate her
newest book from the moment I hear what the title will be. WHISKEY
BEACH will make an entertaining read whether your planning a summer
vacation or a summer staycation, but be prepared to run the gamut of
emotions as you never know where the danger is lurking, or who might truly
be a friend, and who might truly be the person who will kill you without a
moment's hesitation.
For more than three hundred years, Bluff House has sat above
Whiskey Beach, guarding its shore—and its secrets. But to
Eli Landon, it’s home…
A Boston lawyer, Eli has weathered an intense year of public
scrutiny and police investigations after being accused
of—but never arrested for—the murder of his soon-to-be-ex wife.
He finds sanctuary at Bluff House, even though his beloved
grandmother is in Boston recuperating from a nasty fall.
Abra Walsh is always there, though. Whiskey Beach’s resident
housekeeper, yoga instructor, jewelry maker, and massage
therapist, Abra is a woman of many talents—including helping
Eli take control of his life and clear his name. But as they
become entangled in each other, they find themselves caught
in a net that stretches back for centuries—one that has
ensnared a man intent on reaping the rewards of destroying
Eli Landon once and for all…
