Victoria Alexander

Romance Historical

Lady Miranda Garret has always been a quiet young lady. She loves her family but has never felt like she fit in. She has no desire to cause a scandal. Miranda always liked drawing and architecture. When she married, her husband set up an architectural firm and taught her so much. Soon, she was the one helping him and improving his plans for buildings. After his death, Miranda feels like she owes it to her employees to keep the business going. She takes over as chief architect. With a man running the projects all is successful. When circumstances force Miranda out of hiding, nothing will ever be the same.

Winfield Elliott is devastated when his favorite family home is destroyed by fire. He is determined to rebuild. As Viscount Stillwell, he has solidified the family wealth. He wants to marry and raise the next generation of Elliotts. If only one of his three engagements had resulted in marriage. When Winfield meets Lady Miranda, he learns to be grateful that he never married.

As Lady Miranda supervises the construction of his home, Win falls in love with her. Since he has some very old fashioned ideas of what a woman's place in life is, this doesn't endear him to Miranda. Even as he frustrates her, Win has become someone, Miranda can't envision living without.

Victoria Alexander continues the saga of the Hadley-Attwater family in the THE IMPORTANCE OF BEING WICKED. One can always count on Ms. Alexander to bring a reader satisfaction with engaging characters, a good story line and a lot of sexual tension. THE IMPORTANCE OF BEING WICKED is no exception. It was a lot of fun to observer the fireworks between Win and Miranda as they learn to appreciate their differences.

SUMMARY

For Winfield Elliott, Viscount Stillwell, finding a prospective bride always seemed easy. Perhaps too easy. With three broken engagements to his name, Win is the subject of endless gossip. Yet his current mission is quite noble: to hire a company to repair his family’s fire-damaged country house. Nothing disreputable in that — until the firm’s representative turns out to be a very desirable widow. Lady Miranda Garret expected a man of Win’s reputation to be flirtatious, even charming. But the awkward truth is that she finds him thoroughly irresistible. While Miranda resides at Millworth to oversee the work, Win occupies her days, her dreams…and soon, her bed. For the first time, the wicked Win has fallen in love. And what began as a scandalous proposition may yet become a very different proposal…
