"Funny and hot look at a war between the Gods"

Fresh Fiction Review

Romance Paranormal | Fantasy Urban

In IMMORTALLY EMBRACED the old and new Gods declared war on each other and the fate of the earth as humans know it is held in the balance, depending on which side wins. Humans with special talents have been conscripted to serve in the army on each side.

Dr. Petra Robichaud is an army surgeon for a M*A*S*H unit in Limbo, who was 'recruited' for her exceptional skills as a doctor. She's lost a lot during this war, but continues to do what she can to ease the suffering of mortal and immortal alike.

A truce has been called and for a while Petra and the others in the unit are taking care of the mundane and not so mundane. On her part it's not going as well as she had hoped because her boyfriend breaks up with her without an explanation and the oracles have laid out a new prophecy that seems to deal with her. "The peacekeeper will find love" ... that part sounds really good but unfortunately it doesn't end there "a hideous new weapon is born." ... really not good.

IMMORTALLY EMBRACED is a wickedly funny yet dark paranormal that hits on the grave sense of wartime and adds the right touch of sexual heat. I knew this book was going to be good when a centuries old goddess is afraid to tell her parents she's pregnant and we were introduced to Petra's werewolf roommate who collects Star Trek memorabilia. The setting and atmosphere brings back a lot of the feel of the M*A*S*H TV series with the seriousness of war, but with the craziness that roommates can get into to break up that gravity. Add to that the mythological characters, and paranormal beings with quirky senses of humor and you have a book that you cannot put down. I can't wait for the next in the series by author Angie Fox.

SUMMARY

Bestselling author Angie Fox combines magic, medicine, and modern romance in a dazzling series about one dedicated doctor who keeps legends alive…

IN THE BATTLE OF THE SEXES…

Even during a truce, Dr. Petra Robichaud has her hands full as the M*A*S*H surgeon to an army of warring gods—especially when Medusa herself turns up pregnant. Petra has no idea what to expect when a gorgon’s expecting, but she won’t let it turn her to stone. As the healer-hero of an ancient prophesy, it’s Petra’s job to keep the peace. But as the lover to a warrior demi-god, she knows how impossible some jobs can be…

IT’S EVERY GOD FOR HIMSELF.

Commander Galen is sexy, strong, and sworn to lead his team to hell and back. But when he announces to Petra that he can no longer risk her life for his love, the doctor is on her own…Until a mysterious new entity—in the form of a hot-blooded male—enters the picture. Can he be trusted? Can he be resisted? Meanwhile, an oracle delivers another prophesy that places Petra back on the frontlines with the man she may be bound to for eternity—in love, or in war…
