Thriller

I've never read Jamie Freveletti's novels, but I most certainly will be reading them now. What an amazing thriller with great characters, (both evil and good). I couldn't put this thriller down and stayed awake late at night reading DEAD ASLEEP!

Emma Caldridge is a Biochemist who arrives at a remote tropical island located in the Caribbean. She owns her own company and strongly believes that she can find minerals that will help stop the aging process. During her research on the Island, she runs up against a Voodoo priestess and thugs who want her dead, and many inhabitants of the island start falling into deep sleep and cannot awaken.

Now that many officials are calling it a possible epidemic, no one is allowed on the island and those on the island cannot leave it. Emma finds herself in a most terrifying situation. She must still search for the minerals, but the islanders caution her that there are monsters, where she must dive for the minerals. Of course Emma does not believe in Voodoo, or monsters, so she sets out to do her research with the help of some locals friends she has made. On her journey, they are followed by killers who will stop at nothing to see them dead.

There are others who want the minerals for themselves, for greed. These thugs try to keep anyone away from the minerals, for they have figured a way to make a gun that no security on the planet can detect. But nothing will stop Emma from proceeding on her research.

Will the killers be successful in locating her and killing her off or will Emma be successful in her endeavor? DEAD ASLEEP is one thriller not to be missed!

SUMMARY

The devil is awake in paradise . . . Biochemist Emma Caldridge comes to a remote tropical island in the Caribbean in search of minerals believed to reverse the aging process. What she finds instead are the bloody remnants of a bizarre religious ritual. And here, where the local people speak in whispers about sea monsters, ancient voodoo curses, and rampaging evil, she discovers something far more real . . . and more terrifying. One by one, the island’s innocent inhabitants are descending into a paralyzing sleep of the dead—victims of a long-dormant, terrifying, and incurable pandemic that could once again wreak unimaginable havoc if it escapes from the island to spread like wildfire across the globe. Trapped by a global quarantine, Emma must break through the fear and superstition to get to the truth and stop the real evil, before she herself succumbs to the death sleep . . . along with millions of others. Because the evil here has an all-too-human face . . . and the deadly ingredients of the apocalypse are suddenly for sale to the highest bidder.
