Astrid Holmes is a sensitive who works in the "Freak Squad"
for the Chicago Police Department. Her job is to sift
through the energies that otherworlders or OW give off. She
works with a number of other otherworlders including a
banshee, imp, shifters and her own partner, a vampire. Her
newest case sends her to the Casino Merveileux, a casino
ship docked on the Fox River, to investigate a murder, not
knowing that soon she would be facing a LYCAN UNLEASHED.
The investigation has barely begun with Mac, a banshee, and
Kurt Jarvis a very jumpy imp, when the Otherworlder
Enforcement Agency (OWEA) arrives and her heart sinks when
she hears the voice of Mason Sanderson. The very man who
not long ago kissed her senseless then said it was a
mistake and moved on. When the lights go out in the
evidence room and a prime piece of evidence is found
missing, she is suspended. Furious, she does the only thing
she can do. She goes to Mason and lies to him to get him to
let her help.
Mason has a number of reasons to not let her help but the
fact that she says she can sense the killer is a plus for
him. The down side is the attraction he feels for her but
his past is holding him back. As they work together,
dealing with the very powerful Luc Chevalier, Magister,
(vampire leader) and owner of the casino, the man's son,
the victim's widow, they must also deal with the growing
attraction for each other. By the time they work through
the maze that the case has become Mason learns just what he
can and will do to protect Astrid.
LYCAN UNLEASHED is fabulous! The action starts with the
first page and is non-stop to the explosive ending. There
are a number of twists and turns that keep the main
characters on their toes as well as the sorting through the
emotional baggage they both carry that will keep the
readers enthusiastic attention. The author [Tiffany Allee]
writes a story that is believable and thrilling even set in
a paranormal world. I very much want to see more along this
line from her.
Detective Astrid Holmes is a sensitive, a human capable of feeling the energy of otherworlders. When she is dispatched to the horrific murder scene of a local vampire, she expects it to be just another day on the job. But when evidence is stolen on her watch, she is removed—not only from the investigation, but from her job as a member of the Chicago police department’s paranormal unit. Astrid’s only hope of reinstatement lies with her ex co-worker and almost-lover, Lycan Mason Sanderson. But convincing the OWEA agent to let her assist with the investigation isn’t nearly as difficult as staying alive when the murderer realizes that Astrid may hold the key to unlocking his identity. Fighting to take down a killer could have deadly consequences for Astrid and Mason, but working together puts their already fragile relationship in jeopardy.
