Growing up we all pretend to be something perhaps magical
or mystical. Fairy tales are full of larger than life
fairies after all. Well it seems that in Ireland the Druids
have magical powers or at least they were thought to have
them way back in the 1500's. So if you believe that there
used to be people with special talents it stands to reason
that if one of them travels into the future their powers or
talents come along for the ride. If you believe in time
travelers then you will have no issue believing this
magically entertaining and quite humorous story by Anderson.
Most times time travelers wind up in an unplanned country
or maybe planet and then have to figure why they were
there. Not so for Ceara. She came from the 1500's on a
mission to save lives and remove a generations old curse.
The Harrigan family had a history of tragic deaths but
until Ceara drops into Quincy Harrigan's stable no one has
ever paid attention to this phenomenon. If you fail to see
the larger picture then you can overlook something that
could be dismissed as coincidence or bad luck but shouldn't.
Why have the Harrigan's first wives met untimely young
deaths and always conditional on some sort of blood related
malady.
Frank the patriarch of the Harrigan family is usually a
straight shooter and certainly nobody's fool, and yet he is
unequivocally buying into everything Ceara is saying about
her reason for coming to their ranch. According to Ceara
her family's chrystal ball showed that another Harrigan's
wife was at deaths door from an incurable blood disease.
Knowing full well that if she went to the future to stop
this curse she would never be able to return home again.
It's always a one way ticket and yet Ceara knew she had to
stop this curse.
When Quincy finds this red headed petite woman dressed in
other worldly garb in his stable he is sure this is a
charlatan looking to do harm to his horses or his family.
But eventually he too realizes that this young woman has a
good soul and more importantly claims to have the answer to
his family's prayer. By marrying Quincy, the last remaining
single Harrigan brother, Ceara will have effectively lifted
the curse and stop the imminent death of Lori. Lori is
quickly losing ground and yet feels hopeful when meeting
Ceara. You see Lori has second sight and has actually seen
Ceara before.
Quincy absolutely adores his sister-in-law Lori and albeit
with a bit of reluctance agrees to the marriage which he
thinks will be merely ceremonial. No harm no foul. But ah
ha this marriage has to meet some rigid standards. So a
quickie divorce is just not in the cards.
Life with Ceara was beginning to have a rather unplanned
effect on Quincy's resolve to remain at arm's length from
his new bride. Her innate love and curiosity has endeared
her to not only Quincy but everyone she meets. She is a ray
of sunshine that he didn't know he missed. And suddenly his
life starts to revolve around this woman who delights in
learning all the things that were essentially foreign to
her life back in the 1500's.
And if he were completely honest Quincy would have to
acknowledge his love and respect for this young woman who
left everyone and everything she knew to travel to a
strange place in time to save lives.
Any fan of Catherine Anderson is going to be delighted to
follow her journey into a time travel fantasy. Sure you may
have to suspend disbelief but that is the nature of
fantasy. After a very short time you will be totally vested
in this love story between two people from very different
times. Anderson loves to make odd matches between her
characters. Often her characters have disabilities or
problems to overcome to meet that special someone. So in
Perfect Timing we are asked to believe it took a giant leap
of faith into the future for these two people to find each
other. Totally believable -- but then again I'm a romantic
and big fan of this author.
In Catherine Anderson's newest installment in the Harrigan family series, an unlikely couple is brought together under circumstances that defy all reason.... Tragedy has struck the Harrigans—Quincy's beloved sister-in-law Loni is gravely ill and nearing death. Quincy, like his brothers, feels helpless to save her, and the clock is ticking. Then, with perfect timing, a winsome red-haired woman named Ceara O'Ceallaigh mysteriously appears on Quincy's property and insists that Loni can be cured. Only Quincy, she says, as the sole remaining Harrigan bachelor, can make it happen—by marrying Ceara. To Quincy, Ceara is a charming and quite likely deranged spinner of dreams who can't prove she's telling the truth. But how can he pass up any attempt to restore Loni to health? Against all better judgment, he decides to marry Ceara. Maybe he's making the worst mistake of his life. Or maybe he's opening himself up to possibilities that defy explanation...and will send him on a miraculous journey toward enough love to last forever. In Catherine Anderson's newest installment in the Harrigan family series, an unlikely couple is brought together under circumstances that defy all reason....
