Here's the next story revolving yet another member of the
wealthy prominent successful King family. If you've been
following along on this path with Maureen Child you know
that these men fall hard but before they do the struggle
for freedom is fierce. She pits strong willed men against
even stronger willed women and it's definitely worth the
price of admission. Women with kids make him sweat -- you know the type. One
night stands or very short term flings and he's out of
there. No sense really knowing too much about the lady of
the night since she's not going to be in the picture very
long. Short and sweet. But not all attractions can fit into
that category of being short and sweet. Some are short but
definitely leave you with a bad taste which ultimately
rules how you act upon your next attraction. Well that's basically how Griffin King operates.
Approaching thirty three has him thinking about the life he
has settled into which is starting to make him wonder if he
is missing out on something. After all his twin and several
of his cousins have left the ranks of bachelor behind and
seem to be pretty happy with their choice to settle down
with a good woman and a family. Griffin ready made family but
when that relationship went south the part he regretted
most was the loss of that child. So he was pretty resolute
that from here on the object of his lust was going to be
single women -- not single mothers. Even for a big tough guy
that loss left a bruise on his heart and he was determined
to learn from that mistake. Good intentions don't mean a darn when faced with an
attraction that can't be swept away or easily avoided. Like
a really attractive next door neighbor who doesn't have to
do anything to make Griffin look her way -- often -- daily
okay if he was honest -- pretty much any time he was
outdoors. Nicole is this gorgeous blonde that catches his eye and it
appears the attraction is definitely mutual since Griffin
is sure this woman is also casting quick glances his way
too. Nicole is a friend of the King family since her best
friend Katie married into the family which means their
paths are sure to cross. There is also the threat that
Katie has made encompassing all the King men for them to
stay away from Nicole. Katie is just showing her concern
for a friend whose life has been difficult since the demise
of a marriage. But Nicole isn't some fragile flower. She is doing fine
for a single mother with a two year son she adores and is
the center of her life. She has a good job and a home. So
what if her sex life is lacking. Other than for that she
doesn't really see herself needing a man especially a player
like Griffin King. Here's where all the rules go out the window. Nicole needs
a red hot fling. Griffin is ready and available. This could
be a solution for both of their needs. But in actuality it
could wind up a recipe for a disaster. As long as feelings
stay out of the equation all is good in this plan but this is
a plan that definitely should have been better thought out.
Two mature adults think they have thought of everything
before entering a short term secret fling. Wow you can
almost see the problem with this plan. There's no way I could pass up a book by Maureen Child. She
writes with an elegance and charm as she develops
characters that seem to jump off the page -- they are that
real.
SUMMARY
"Just give me one night." Single mom Nicole Baxter is perfectly fulfilled without a
man in her life. But when billionaire Griffin King moves in

and exciting, but he's not staying. It's an ideal situation,
as long as she doesn't fall in love.... Griffin King never met a woman he couldn't leave. But desire
sparks with Nicole like lightning: quick and hot. It's just
what this workaholic commitment-phobe needs. But why does
the thought of summer's end have Griffin longing for more
with the one woman he shouldn't have?
