In a world of ogres, sprites and goblins, Greta is the
toughest one of all.
Seventeen year old Greta is a bounty hunter. After a witch
threw her into the fire three years ago as she was trying to
save her brother, she fell through a portal into a dangerous
world, Mylena, where the ogres, goblins and ghouls turn
nasty with a full moon. Befriended by a sprite, Greta is
trained as a bounty hunter and has to hide her identity as a
human. The Goblin King takes notice of Greta and begins to
invade her dreams, muddling with her intentions of escaping
Mylena. With the full moon days away, Greta doesn't know
about another evil being that knows Greta is the key to
opening the portal. If she doesn't succeed her life and
others will end, but if she does, the evil being will be
unleashed.
I wasn't able to stop reading this one once I started. Not
even if I wanted to. Jacobs has created a tale full of
non-stop action, tense scenarios and deep, real characters.
I hadn't considered goblins to look quite like this before,
and let me say that I was pleasantly surprised. Greta is a
heroine that I won't soon forget. Her determination and
abilities, along with her personality, combined to make an
incredibly strong female lead. There are many tropes and
themes present, and a few parallels to classics such as
Narnia and Alice and Wonderland that seem undeniably
familiar, but I say this as a compliment. GRETA AND THE
GOBLIN KING is a fresh, exciting
read with an unforgettable cast of characters. This was one
of my favorite recent
reads. GRETA AND THE GOBLIN KING is another hit from
Entangled, but no surprise there, folks.
While trying to save her brother from the witch three years
ago, Greta was thrown into the fire herself, falling through
a portal to a dangerous world where humans are the enemy,
and every ogre, goblin, and ghoul has a dark side that comes
out with the full moon.
To survive, 17-year-old Greta has
hidden her humanity and taken the job of bounty hunter—and
she’s good at what she does. So good, she’s caught the
attention of Mylena’s young Goblin King, the darkly enticing
Isaac, who invades her dreams and undermines her
determination to escape.
But Greta’s not the only one
looking to get out of Mylena.
The full moon is mere days
away, and an ancient evil being knows she’s the key to
opening the portal. If Greta fails, she and the boys she
finds stranded in the woods will die. If she succeeds, no
world will be safe from what follows her back . . .
