Ex-Marine Lt. Robin Duncan contracts for a job as a
language interpreter with Ares Solutions, a company run by
Trevor Mulroney. She's worked for them on several
occasions, and this money is just what she needs for her
niece's operation. She's excited about returning to Africa,
close to where she spent time as a child. At a border
crossing into the Congo, she is reunited with a former
Marine she knew in Afghanistan, Dr. Michael Stewart. There
was more than a passing friendship between the two, and
Robin is not sure about her feelings now. She learns he
will be just a short distance from her base camp in the
Ituri Rainforest, so their paths will cross often.
As Robin begins this special-op, designed to take out a
menacing resurgent killer and restore transport operations
at a mine owned by Mulroney, she soon realizes all may not
be aboveboard here. What seems to be good may be evil, and
what seems to be evil may be good. As Robin gets caught up
in trying to sort out what and who is good or evil, she
learns there is something here infinitely more valuable
than their stated mission. Her very life may be threatened
by the situation. Is their stated mission the real purpose
here? And will she ever return to her sister and beloved
niece?
CONGO DAWN is a sizzling tale of corruption, oppression and
injustice in the Congo. Jeanette Windle paints a
vivid picture of the beauty of the land, as well as the
corruption and devastation that is taking place. This is a
story about hatred and anger and how to overcome it with
forgiveness and hope. The characters leap from the pages
with the diverse personalities Windle gives them. If you
enjoy a thriller about international espionage and special
ops, but love a strong inspirational message and a little
romance, this is a great read.
