It's been over a year following her divorce, and
Lacey Lancaster has started her life over in San Francisco
working for Sullivan's Decorating. To help her over the
hump of her cheating ex she shares her apartment with a
beautiful Abyssinian cat she calls Cleo. To further
complicate things, her hunky handsome and single neighbor,
Jack Walker, exposes his affairs with his girlfriend by the
arguing and shouting which comes through the walls to her
side.
Finding out the woman is his sister changes Lacy's
impression of Jack.
Unbelievably, instead of breeding her precious Cleo to a
registered cat as intended, Jack's alley cat "Dog" beats
them to the punch. Who would guess that would finally give
Jack his chance to befriend the neighbor he has been
pursuing for a year. Lacey soon learns that things are not
always as they seem . Falling in love with Jack just as he
receives a promotion at the bank and an eminent move to
Seattle, Lacy is back where she started and has lost her
heart to someone that will again walk away from her. Does
she have enough faith in love to try again?
FAMILY AFFAIR is a cute little short story of losing love and
confidence only to find a way to forgive and begin again.
This is an extremely fast read that grabs your interest and
keeps you going to the very end. I am a devoted fan and
seldom miss any of Debbie Macomber's works of art. She
always amazes me with the insight into the workings of the
personal relationships of family, friends and lovers. Just
keep them coming!
Lacey Lancaster always longed to be a wife and mother.
However, after a painful divorce, she just wants to lay low
in her charming San Francisco apartment with her beautiful
Abyssinian cat, Cleo.
Everything would be wonderful if it wasn't for her
impossible neighbor, Jack Walker, who argues day and night
with his girlfriend . . . and whose cat, Dog, is determined
to get Cleo to succumb to his feline advances. And when
Lacey discovers that Cleo's in the family way, she's furious
that neither Jack nor his amorous animal seems terribly
upset about it.
But things aren't always what they appear. Jack's
"girlfriend" is really his sister—and his intentions toward
Lacey are quite honorable (though she's not sure about Dog).
And out of the blue, Lacey is discovering the tender joy of
falling in love all over again.
