I have grown up reading Hannah Howell and I love her books!
I
have been there with the Murray family since Balfour married
Maldy and the whole clan began. I was very excited when I
found out that yet another Murray lass was going to make her
way onto the pages and find her Highland Avenger. I can
never get enough of the Murray clan and all the fun spoofs
they get themselves into. If ever there was a family who
never had a dull moment it was this one. I really have loved
watching them grow, find love in the most unlikely of
places, and make their way into the world. The Murrays have
married into some powerful clans and finding another
MacFingal, first seen in Highland Lover, find his way to a
Murray was not a surprise! You never want to miss a Hannah
Howell novel.
Arianna was running for not only her life, but the lives of
her late husband's children. Only he wasn't the man she
thought he was and really she was never his wife. When her
ship gets attacked by her enemies Arianna is afraid that she
will never find safety in Scotland's arms again. But it
isn't Scotland's arms that she finds herself in...no these
arms are all too tempting and the eyes all too sinful. Can
Arianna trust another man with her life or will this one
turn out to be just as fake as the last?
Sir Brian MacFingal knows a lass in trouble when he sees one
and if the stunning beauty lying almost dead on the beach
was any indication he had just found a whole world of
trouble. Honor bound to protect, Brian soon discovers that
he has much more than he bargained for. Arianna has quickly
become a part of his life that he knows he has to let go.
Will he be able to let her walk away or will the warrior
inside him stand up and fight for something he knows is
real?
First, I really must say that I have never not bought the
new Hannah Howell and I will continue this tradition until
Miss Howell decides to quit writing, hopefully in her 80's
by that time. I have loved each and every Murray, MacFingal,
MacAlpin, Cameron, and Macwhatever that has been brought to
life on the pages. Arianna and Brian were no exception to
this rule. I most especially loved Brian as his personality
was a bit off from the norm. He had a few flaws that really
gave his character depth. Arianna was of course a Murray
lass -- strong, independent, willing to do anything to
protect those she decided to call her own.
I really liked the idea behind the storyline in HIGHLAND
AVENGER.
Arianna is running with two boys that are not hers, but they
are children and they must be protected. Then the story
began to seem like something I had already read. The group
splits and Arianna and Brian are of course left alone to
travel over the highland hills toward their homes to find
help to battle Arianna's enemies. Then we proceed to run all
over Scotland narrowly missing the enemies one turn after
another. Now for the good part, that's where all the
similarities ended. By the end of HIHGLAND AVENGER I had
quite a
shock as the truth behind the boys was revealed. I also very
much enjoyed watching Arianna and Brian stumble their way
into love.
Once, Arianna Murray Lucette believed she'd met the man she
could always
rely
on. She was wrong. Now she is fleeing for her life, and when
her enemies attack
a ship bound for her only refuge, she believes all hope is
lost. Until she awakens
on Scotland's shore to a pair of the most entrancing blue
eyes she has ever
seen. When Sir Brian MacFingal first spots the sun-streaked
beauty on the
beach, he mistakes her for dead. Soon, however, he discovers
a woman more
full of life and vitality than he ever dreamed possible. But
though he knows he
is fit to defend her life - even at risk of losing his own -
can such a raw warrior
as he ever be worthy of her love?
