Simone Derien's time has come. Her life assisting the nuns
in a remote part of Provence has ended abruptly as a long
awaited signal allowing her to fulfill her promise to a
man long
dead is triggered. Her duty soon wars with the passion
inspired by the Darkyn Korbel, both seeking a long-hidden
scroll but perhaps for separate purposes.
Korbel is tired of his life echoing with loneliness. His
sworn duty to the high lord has long since become a prison.
He fulfills that trust solely because there is no one else
who will keep the interests of the high lord in mind while
seeking a powerful relic from the past of the Darkyn. His
duty comes into conflict with his achingly renewed desire
when a woman who seems formed of purity and innocence joins
forces with him on their quest to retrieve the Templar
scroll.
Delicious twists wrap around and through
NIGHTBORN, always adding a layer of suspense to the reading
experience. Achingly tender moments, action packed scenes
and plenty of surprises abound in this first in a new
Darkyn-based trilogy.
Lynn Viehl can be counted upon for amazingly powerful and
intricate storytelling. She has published forty seven
novels
in eight genres (I first met her in her science fiction
guise, the Star Doc series written as S. L. Viehl) and I
look forward to filling out my collection with the books
I've missed. I couldn't find a projected publication date
for book two in this series, but I will be keeping my eyes
open waiting.
The High Lord of the Immortal Darkyn has sent his most
trusted warrior, Korvel, to retrieve a coveted scroll that's
rumored to contain maps to Templar treasures and the secrets
to eternal life. Uniting with Korvel to recover the
dangerous artifact is Simone Derien, the daughter of the
scroll's guardian, and a woman with many deadly secrets...
