Romance Contemporary

Katie Dane wants nothing more than to get back to grad school and continue her studies in French literature. Instead, she is stuck managing the Hair of the Dog with little success. Her dad is taking time off from the bar after having a heart attack and her mom is going to make sure he stays stress free by whisking him off on vacation. The longer Katie is at the bar the more she realizes the financial trouble it is in and the responsibility weighs heavy, especially since she has no clue what she's doing and no one else in the family is pitching in. Help comes unexpectedly in the form of a handsome customer who comes to her rescue as bouncer, bartender, and friend (with benefits?!?!?).

Ryan Blake, on leave from San Gabriel Fire Station 1, wanders into the rundown bar looking for a drink. He's immediately attracted to the beautiful though surly bartender/owner. With time on his hands while he tries to earn his way back into the Fire Station, he is happy to help Katie anyway he can. He's also hoping for a chance to see what's beneath that prickly exterior. Ryan's hot for a woman who doesn't seem to want anything to do with him, is there anything he can do to change that?

As with the first book in the Bachelor Firemen series, HOT FOR FIREMAN is populated with colorful characters, complicated family dynamics, and hot hunky firemen. I liked Ryan in the first book and really enjoyed getting to learn more about him. Who doesn't love a sexy fireman with a soft spot for women in trouble and children, a tendency to be in the right place at the right time, and the will to come to terms with his own struggles? Katie has a fiery personality that plays off Ryan and her family effectively. I struggled somewhat with the plot in that Katie did some things I thought didn't make much sense. I'm sure that some of the actions were supposed to stem from desperation and inexperience but the sense of urgency wasn't well established and just left me scratching my head. I enjoyed a few laugh-out-loud moments and a bachelorette party to rival all bachelorette parties.

SUMMARY

Katie Dane knows better than to mix business and pleasure, but her new bartender, Ryan Blake, is simply irresistible . . . and besides, she doesn't plan on working there much longer. That's if things go according to plan. But they never do, do they?

Ryan, the sexy heartbreaker of Station One, is determined to rejoin the force. Tending bar in the meantime seems like the perfect idea, especially when it means he can spend his nights working next to his sultry new boss . . . if only the bar didn't keep catching fire.

Throw in a grizzled career criminal, a luscious-bodied barfly, a Bachelor Fireman bachelorette party, a flash-fire romance, and a million-dollar money pot, and suddenly playing with fire never seemed so much like falling in love.
