Inspirational Historical

Rachel Dunne left Ireland in order to escape the aftermath following a horrible accusation of murder. While Rachel was working as healer, a young girl perished under her care. The girl's family attempted to prosecute Rachel for murder, but Rachel was acquitted. Her acquittal did little to remove the tarnish of her reputation as a healer. Dubbed a murderer, Rachel had no choice but to leave her peaceful home in Ireland for the bustling life in London.

Rachel arrives in London ready to join the household of James Edmunds. Thanks to the recommendation of a wealthy cousin, Rachel was able to obtain a temporary position as an assistant with a young and handsome physician, who will soon be leaving his practice to pursue life as farmer. Although Rachel is instantly drawn to James' gentleness, she fears she will never be able to escape the permanent taint on her reputation. When Dr. Edmunds attempts to lure Rachel into becoming his medical assistant, Rachel's nightmares of the child who was lost under her care resurface. However, when a series of accidents and illnesses occur in the home of James Edmunds, Rachel cannot deny her abilities as a healer.

James Edmunds has never reconciled himself to the loss of his wife, Mariah, who died shortly after childbirth. Although James's good looks have won him the heart of the lovely Miss Castleton, James' heart remains forever wedded to the grief over his wife and the loss of his career. But when James meets his lovely new Irish assistant, a strong longing, long thought dead, awakens in his heart. Although the Irish healer believes she can never hope to win the heart of the handsome physician, she finds herself slowly losing her heart to him with each passing day she spends by his side. But Rachel's secret from her past threatens the newfound trust James has placed in her. But Rachel is not the only one with a secret.

THE IRISH HEALER is a tender love story readers will cherish from beginning to end. This rags to riches love story will more than satisfy the romantic in all readers. Nancy Herriman has weaved together a passionately intense romance, hidden secrets, and the travails of the nineteenth-century physician. THE IRISH HEALER is the perfect summer read!

SUMMARY

Accused of murdering a child under her care, Irish healer Rachel Dunne flees the ensuing scandal while vowing to never sit at another sickbed. She no longer trusts in her abilities-or God's mercy--though when a cholera epidemic sweeps through London, she feels compelled to nurse the dying daughter of the enigmatic physician she has come to love.

James Edmunds, wearied by the deaths of too many patients, has his own doubts about God's grace. Together, they will have to face their darkest fears . . . and learn what it means to have real faith.
