Thriller Paranormal - Supernatural
KISS THE DEAD is the 21st book in the thrilling Anita
Blake Vampire Hunter series. I found this one to be
every bit as riveting as the first one! Hamilton's writing
style continues to captivate my attention. The stories
remain fresh, the gruesome remains just as gruesome as I
like it, and the sex is even hotter! KISS OF DEAD is more about information, Anita's domestic
situations, almost seemed to me to be wrapping up Anita's
life for us. After 21 books I am still not done and I am
hoping that Ms. Hamilton isn't either! I continue to wait
for the books, because I am involved now. I have been
wrapped up in Anita's life from the beginning and I will
continue to be a fan until the end. Hamilton has a way of drawing the reader in and making us
feel like we are part of the story. We are right there with
her when the danger is as dangerous as it gets, when the
horror is to the extreme, and when the sex is at it
steamiest we are right there too. Keep writing Ms. Hamilton,
keep writing. KISS THE DEAD begins with Anita working as a Marshal, the
new case is one involving vampires of the city that
unusually do not belong to Jean-Claude. These apparently
master-free vampires are trying to prove to the world that
they can control themselves without the help of a master.
Anita is faced with vampires of all shapes and sizes. From
the innocent looking Granny to the very young children these
vamps are not as innocent as they appear. Anita's love life has always been challenging, but it
appears that she is becoming more comfortable with the
domestic situation. Living with multiple men works for her
and if its fixed she shouldn't break it...right? Never one
to let things go Anita is still in conflict over certain men
in her life the least of which is Sin. The youngest of her men, Sin is the least mature physically and emotionally. When
things get rough on the job Anita finds that Sin is just one
more complication that she does not know how to deal with.
And then there is Asher....what to do with a drama queen
vampire who is never too happy with anything? His latest
tactics might just bring an end to having him around, but
will Anita and Jean-Claude really be able to send away one
of the loves of their lives? Again, I really loved this book just as much as the others.
The only disappointment was no Richard, no Edward, and I
didn't get enough of Jean-Claude. I almost felt that the
stronger Anita's home life gets the less she has need of
Jean-Claude. KISS THE DEAD felt like a wrap up. I mean the Mother of all
Darkness is dead, the Ardeur is basically under control, and
the domestics are all getting along. I liked the fact that
Anita is questioning her life as a Marshal vs. her life as a
monster and it did leave something open for the next book.
Another question that has not been answered is what will
happen with Asher? So all in all KISS THE DEAD is another
one for the collection, a must read as all Hamilton's books
are, and now we are anxiously left waiting for the next in
this brilliant and utterly sexy series!
SUMMARY
When a fifteen-year-old girl is abducted by vampires, it’s
up to U.S. Marshal Anita Blake to find her. And when she
does, she’s faced with something she’s never seen before: a
terrifyingly ordinary group of people—kids, grandparents,
soccer moms—all recently turned and willing to die to avoid
serving a master. And where there’s one martyr, there will
be more… But even vampires have monsters that they’re afraid of. And
Anita is one of them…
