Maddy is a strong female heroine. She must take control of
situations that she is thrown into, seemingly at random at
times. Her character is strong, but hasn't changed too
much from the last novel in Black Wings series.
Satan may be one
of the strongest supporting characters. He manages to
manipulate the characters without their knowledge; readers
know what is going on, but the characters are
oblivious.
There are unscheduled deaths occurring in the city of
Chicago and it is up to Maddy to discover who could be
breaking Satan's rules and eluding his inner circle.
Although Maddy tries to keep her cool, she is as mulish as
ever, prompting readers to want to hit her over the head
and force her to concentrate. There are so many supporting
characters in BLACK HOWL that they are hard to keep
straight. Readers will get to know most of them quite
well and may come to love some while having a different
take on others. It is interesting to read about the group
dynamic Maddy's "team" has in BLACK HOWL, relationships are
changing.
The ending of BLACK HOWL will probably leave you
shocked...and dying for the next.
Something is wrong with the souls of Chicago's dead. Ghosts
are walking the streets, and Agent of Death Madeline Black's
exasperating boss wants her to figure out why. And while
work is bad enough, Maddy has a plethora of personal
problems too. Now that Gabriel has been assigned as her
thrall, their relationship has hit an impasse. At least her
sleazy ex-fiance Nathaniel is out of the picture--or so she
thinks...
