I've been eagerly anticipating the latest installment of
Jaci Burton's Play-By-Play series since sparks flew between
Jenna Riley and Tyler Anderson in Changing the Game.
TAKING A SHOT was well worth the wait. I loved everything
about this story! Since the attraction between Jenna and
Tyler had been established in the second book, the romantic
and sexual tension was front and center by the fourth page
and didn't let up until the end.
Jenna has been running the family sports bar since her dad's
heart attack. She loves her family but hates being immersed
in sports 24/7. Her commitment to her family has led her to
bury her own secret dreams. The one thing she has a choice
about is who she dates and she is not dating a jock, no
exception. She's looking for a poet, artist, writer or
musician. Professional hockey player Tyler is defiantly on
the forbidden list, even if he is hot and handsome. Tyler,
though, isn't used to taking no for an answer and he's
determined to break through Jenna's defenses. As they
succumb to their physical attraction their friendship grows.
Tyler is determined to help Jenna live her dreams. Can
Jenna let go of her fears and embrace the future they can
have together?
Jenna, pierced and tattooed, is a compelling contrast to her
athlete brothers we met in the first two books. She is a
complex blend of cocky-confidence and paralyzing-insecurity
that makes her an intriguing and relatable character. Ty is
the perfect match for her in that he is confident and strong
enough to hold his own with her and encourage her to pursue
her dreams. The return of the Riley family adds richness to
the story and updates us on how the other relationships are
faring.
TAKING A SHOT is a must read for fans of contemporary
romance with strong erotic elements.
If you want to score, you have to get in the game...
The last thing Jenna Riley needs is more sports
in her life. While her brothers are off being athletic
superstars, she's stuck running the family's sports bar,
whether she likes it or not. Then in walks pro hockey stud
Tyler Anderson. As much as Jenna would like to go to the
boards with him, she's vowed to never fall for a jock-even
one as hot as Ty.
Ty, intrigued by the beautiful bar
owner, becomes a regular. He senses that Jenna wants to do
something more with her life. And as he gains her trust, the
passion between them grows, as does Ty's insistence that
Jenna should start living for herself. With his
encouragement, Jenna starts to believe it, too...
But
first, Jenna has to figure out what she wants, what she
needs, who she loves, and if she has the passion and pride
to take a shot at having it all-including Ty...
