Handsome and debonair rake, Julian "Jules" Wallace, is a
Scottish athlete with the Scottish Highland Society (SHS).
With the aid of his friend, Michael, they are in charge of
the setup for the venue of the upcoming games at Cornwall
Park. Game for Jules is the means to gain recognition
through his hammer throw competition in obtaining logo with
the Rockland Bluff Whisky company to set his family up for
life. All is good until the feisty Kate Simmons decides to
have the park for her Jane Austin Regency Re-Enactment
Society (JARRS) for their annual Fauxhall Gardens event in
capturing 1810's London era. The problem is that both are
scheduled for the same day!
Both Jules and Kate gather their groups and take
possession of the park intending to gain occupancy of the
site as their own. The fine specimens of manhood become
distracted with the bikini clad females and their portable
hot tub. War is being declared with pranks from both
sides. Kate plots an unsuccessful seduction to get her
way, when her plans are overheard by Jules. The "warriors"
have a hard time denying the women and beer as Jules and
Kate are denying the feelings cropping up between them.
Neither is willing to back off and relinquish the venue,
finally agreeing to a publicized game of live full sized
chess between the two of them, winner getting Cornwall
Park. Things go sideways and now is the time to decide
what is the most important to them, winning or gaining the
love they both desire.
LOVE IS A BATTLEFIELD is a really cute tale of two equally
attracted people who are dedicated to the clubs they are
passionately involved in. The games are more important to
Jules for reasons unknown to Kate. Their desire for one
another only complicates the final objectives. The last
thing either expected to find was a true love that would
change their entire lives. The story is well written and
flows so well that it keeps your total interest and you can
hardly wait to see what prank they pull next. A definite
read!
It takes a real man to wear a kilt. And a real woman to
charm him out of it.
Games of Love, Book 1
It might be modern times, but Kate Simmons isn’t willing to
live a life without at least the illusion of the perfect
English romance. A proud member of the Jane Austen Regency
Re-Enactment Society, Kate fulfills her passion for
courtliness and high-waisted gowns in the company of a few
women who share her love of all things heaving.
Then she encounters Julian Wallace, a professional Highland
Games athlete who could have stepped right off the covers of
her favorite novels. He’s everything brooding, masculine,
and, well, heaving. The perfect example of a man who knows
just how to wear his high sense of honor—and his kilt.
Confronted with a beautiful woman with a tongue as sharp as
his sgian dubh, Julian and his band of merry men aren’t
about to simply step aside and let Kate and her gaggle of
tea-sippers use his land for their annual convention. Never
mind that “his land” is a state park—Julian was here first,
and he never backs down from a challenge.
Unless that challenge is a woman unafraid to fight for what
she wants...and whose wants are suddenly the only thing he
can think about.
Warning: The historical re-enactments in this story contain
very little actual history. Battle chess and ninja stars may
apply.
