After her father, a known con man betrayed her, Maya Black
left home determined to forget the past and the excitement
of living on the edge. Maya learns living an average life is
not what she thought it would be, it's boring. She though
spicing up her sex life would help but that's not going too
well either until she meets Simon Barton. Simon is anxious
to move up the ladder in the FBI hence his interest in Maya,
not her so much as her father and his latest activities.
Maya is beautiful and it is not all pretense his attraction
to her. Simon gets lucky when Maya needs a pretend boyfriend
to bring home for her brother's wedding festivities.
Maya can't believe how much she missed her family and how
glad she is to be home until her nemesis continues to try
and insinuate herself into the Black family. What upsets her
more than anything is how her father is allowing it to
happen. Being around Maya makes it harder to remember why he
is with her when all he can think about is loving and
protecting her. As his feeling increase for Maya, Simon is
afraid she won't be able to forgive another betrayal. Tobias
Black is at it again scheming and conniving to bring another
one of his children back into the fold.
Likeable characters and a great storyline make SEX, LIES AND
MIDNIGHT a fantastic read. I look forward to the third book
in this series.
Born into a con artist family, Maya Nicholas abandoned the grifting life to live on the straight and narrow (and somewhat dull) years ago. But when her family is threatened—and the swindlers are on the verge of becoming the swindled— Maya swings into action. All she needs is a stand-in boyfriend, and the charming, tasty-as-sin Simon Barton will do quite nicely, thanks. But Simon has a little lie of his own. He's FBI, and Maya is his inside track to her less-savory relations. It's a mutual using, which quickly turns into a scorching mutual attraction. In fact, their naughty little sexcapades are the only things they aren't faking!
