Anne Beddington has not lived a happy life. From one
struggle to another she has not been shown much kindness.
The only kindness she can remember is that of a gentleman
who told her not to sell herself at so young an age. Not
that it helped any, but he was kind. When faced with
sacrificing herself to save some children from her fate,
Anne struck out. Then she ran. Now Anne has a chance to
save herself and the gentleman who showed her compassion
years ago. Forced to make quick decisions, Anne will change
her name and lose herself in this dangerous game. However,
she did not count on the game coming to life, her feelings
being true, and finding its way into her heart.
The Duke of March, Devon, has secluded himself off from the
world. Returning from war a hero he is now blind and lost
in nightmares of war. He does not want company, he does not
even want the charming woman sent to be his distraction.
And if he keeps telling himself that he may one day believe
it. Cherise is everything that Devon desires, if only he
could see her. He has grown accustomed to her signs, her
reading, and to her very presence. Only to discover that
the woman he desires as his mistress is a fraud. Swept into
a take of murder and mystery Devon will do everything in
his power to get what he desires. He will stop at nothing
to have Anne, one way or another.
ENGAGED IN SIN is a magnificent tale full of deceit,
murder, mystery, and romance. Sharon Page knows how to keep
the reader on the edge of the seat and she knows how to put
the steam in romance. Sizzling scenes will leave you
breathless, deep heart ache will have you longing for more,
and then you will notice that the story is just beginning.
The depths to Anne's character were truly astonishing. Page
did not leave any harsh realities out of this woman's life
and left them all on the pages for anyone to see. I thought
that the reality of Anne was one of the best I have ever
read. She was not the ideal heroine, quite the opposite in
fact. She was hurt, she was forced to fall, and she was
ready to accept the consequences on her own. Fortunately,
for us, Anne had Devon, a wonderful hero willing to do
whatever it took to keep her. Devon was just as heart
wrenching as Anne. His life had all but been destroyed by
the hardships of war. He was strong, enduring, and
everything that a hero should be. I absolutely loved their
story. The plot kept the story going and I did not feel
that it was overrun with romance as other books are. I
think that Ms. Page presents a very accurate depiction of
life in London during this time period and its accuracy
made the story all the richer for it!
