For a romance reader like me there is not much better than
a Scottish romance. Combine hot stacked men in kilts with
some fangs and you have the makings of a steamy book.
HIGHLAND HUNGER is good as it gets. All three stories
were remarkable, leading me into hills of heather and into
worlds that only exist in my imagination. Every story was
unique in its telling and I felt swept away with each tale,
each man, and watching them struggle their way to love.
When you think of romance you think Hannah Howell and when
she mixes the beauty of the Highlands with the notorious
MacNachton's nothing is sweeter. Dark Embrace is the story
of Raibeart MacNachton; a man struggling to live, keep his
family alive, and protect his people at all costs. Headed
to shelter for the day, Raibeart is shocked to see the
beauty being chased and called a witch. Her beauty is the
lure and her every move seems to reel him in. Una Dunn has
just escaped a fate worse than death. Running for her life
to find rescue for others that were caged like her, Una
knows that she must take help wherever it is given. It
appears that rescue has come in the form of a dark,
dangerous, and sexy man; a man who suffers the same
affliction from the sun as she does.
Jackie Ivie is the next author to sweep the pages of
HIGHLAND HUNGER. Ivie's stunning story is called A Knight
Beyond Black, it was just as seductive as the name. Iain
has waiting lifetimes for one woman to be born. The one
woman who would hold his heart and his very soul in her
hands and then he had to wait some more to claim her. The
time of waiting is past and Tira finds him lacking. A man
who has protected his people, holds titles and names too
long to remember, a man like no other man -- and she finds
him lacking. Courting his chosen wife was not something
that had ever entered into Iain's plans. It was supposed to
be simple. Come get his wife, take her home, and live
happily ever after. Nothing had prepared Iain for Tira's
strength, determination, or her beauty.
The final story in the book was actually my favorite.
Michele Sinclair has written an action packed adventure
with The Guardian. From the first page this story was
remarkable. Dorian has come home again in an attempt at
thwarting his nephew, home to Scotland, and home to protect
the land that he loves like no other. Time has not changed
the ever-battling Highlanders and time has always seemed to
stand still here. Dorian has always played guardian to
these people each and every time he has returned. Only this
time a guardian already exists and she is most definitely
not happy about finding Dorian trying to take her place.
Moirae Deincourt has struggled with finding her place in
Glenneyrie. She has struggled to give back to the people
that have taken her in, but when the danger becomes to
close and personal Moirae knows that she must learn new
tricks in order to survive as the guardian. Teaching Moirae
hot to fight was not something that Dorian planned, finding
her night after night at his gate, sleeping in his home,
and taking over his very existence was not planned either.
It is simply what she has done, can Dorian walk away from
the world she has given him or can he finally have
somewhere to call home?
