Paranormal

Dr. Jasmine King was no stranger to exotic locales. Yet, when she gets a call to come and help her good friend, Phoebe, in New Mexico, she doesn't know that she is going to a place she never dreamt existed! Nor does she know that Phoebe is now mated to the King of the Dragonstars, an ancient dragon shape shifter clan that is mercilessly and ruthlessly being killed off by a devastating new disease with no cure. Phoebe had even overruled the Clan's healer and top scientist, Quinn Maguire, to bring in a human to help.

For her part, Jasmine, a brilliant hematologist with impressive credentials, couldn't get there fast enough. She is as much intrigued by the medical mystery as from going stir crazy on medical leave from her job at the Center for Disease Control while recovering from a bomb blast as a result of her international work. Thwarted by a flat tire on her way through Texas, Jasmine accidentally or by fate, meets the tall and youthfully handsome Quinn in a bar. The result is a torrid and highly charged fusion of passion that leaves her breathless, yet determined to keep her independence and be on her way, while Quinn is left with a frightening dilemma. Still reeling from the untimely death of his brother, Michael, and the heavy burden of knowing his clan will soon be extinct if he can't find a way to stop this rapidly changing and fatal virus, he realizes that the sweet and tender vision of his future mate is now radically altered.

While a terrific stand alone read, the highly talented Tessa Adams instantly pulls you into the world of the ancient shape-shifter Dragonstar clan she created in the first book in the Dragon's Heat Series, Dark Embers, as their rivals, the Wyvermoons continue to decimate them. Adams has created an enthralling highly charged romance, complete with strong characters, hot steaming sex and fast- paced suspenseful action where no one is safe. The plot's so realistic; you can't help but feel for the clan and Quinn as they desperately try to fight off this virulent bioterrorism. The author's technique of giving the traitor's thoughts as part of moving the story forward was also interesting. I can't wait to hear more about highly fascinating clan, especially Logan's story, as I was left hungering for more after reading this story and the brief excerpt for the next book, Forbidden Embers.

Be sure to check out this totally captivating story as well as the rest of the series!
