Tess Alexander is adjusting to life in England the best way
she knows how. After all, she lives in a castle, holds
reenactments, and enjoys her studies, but she misses her
younger sister miserably. In fact, her usual visit to the
mechanic does little to lift her spirits. Instead, she
learns that the garage is under new management, and the new
owner, John, looks exactly like her younger sister Pippa's
husband. She knows it cannot be since Pippa and her
husband reside eight hundred years in the past. Tess is
well aware that strange things occur, and she cannot help
but wonder if the man is a distant relative to her brother-
in-law, or perhaps a much closer relation. She just wants
to get on with her life without reminders of the past and
her lost sister, but fate keeps smiling on her in the guise
of John. Where will the future lead them? Is she able to
reconcile with his past?
John de Piaget has adjusted to his new life in England
remarkably well. His past is far in the past and he keeps
that part of himself a secret though it is not likely that
anyone would believe him anyway. When a woman enters his
place of business, she changes his life especially when she
acts as if she has seen a ghost. He is determined to keep
her at arm's length since he has nothing but lies to offer
anyone, especially Tess, a woman whose specialty is medieval
studies and who lives in a medieval castle. Soon it
becomes apparent that more is happening between them than
meets the eye. He feels sinister forces at work, and he
will not let anything bad happen to Tess. How will she
deal with his presence in her life? Will she welcome his
help?
Lynn Kurland blazes an unequaled trail through the time
travel romance genre, and unearths another precious gem
with John and Tess's tale. John might be the strong and
silent type, but even he cannot withstand the power of
attraction. While Tess may be down to earth, she cannot
deny the force of fate. Together, they must fight an
unknown enemy, and the far greater foe known as love. I
absolutely adored their story. I was delighted with the
twists and turns, surprised with the unexpected detour, and
completely satisfied with the happy ending. Ms. Kurland
continually enchants me with each new story, and her
characters capture me with their entwining genealogies.
Though she incorporates characters from previous tales,
this is an enjoyable stand alone read. ONE MAGIC MOMENT
blends past with present, whimsical with sensible, and
magic with reality for an amazing tale. I love to read Ms.
Kurland's books over and over again.
Medieval studies scholar Tess Alexander is thrilled for the
chance to live in a medieval castle. But then a trip to the
village brings her face-to-face with the owner of the local
garage, who looks a great deal like the man who married her
sister...800 years in the past. She's determined to remain
objective about magic and destiny, but she can't help
wondering about that mysterious, sword-wielding mechanic.
