I absolutely flew through this one! Allyson James has a
knack for characters, action, plot, and the storyline was
amazing! Janet is such a complete heroine. Her strength and
adventure combine to make the complete package, combine
that with the life, family, and love that she is still
learning and SHADOW WALKER was as dynamic as I wanted it to
be. I fall in love with Mick all over again with every
stunning book in this series. The personalities that James
has developed in all her characters add so much to the
story. I was left feeling that I knew each one of them
personally and my place in the story was just as important
as theirs. Shadow Walker is the third book in James'
Stormwalker series and it starts off with a thud...literally.
Janet Begay
has fallen off the highway and into a sinkhole right along
with Sheriff Nash Jones. As a Stormwalker who holds Beneath
magic within her, Janet's magic should have kept her
relatively safe from things that go bump in the dark. But
this sinkhole holds surprises of its own; as skeletal hands
creep into the darkness and seem to soak up her magic,
Janet is suddenly afraid. Very afraid. The safety of her
home and her town has been lost to her. Even her boyfriend
is acting strangely, her evil half-sister keeps popping in,
and now her grandmother has taken over her kitchen! What
else could possibly go wrong? But oh, that is only the
beginning!
Mick's distance is taking its toll on Janet, as well as all
the extra guests that have been snowed-in or simply seem to
have moved into her hotel. The new inspector has found a
list of reasons to close her down and nothing seems to be
working. As a dragon, Mick has always been steadfast, sure,
and strong. He has undoubtedly always been there for Janet,
as protector, lover, and friend. Only this time it appears
that Janet will have to rely on all her sources to save
Mick from the witch that has enslaved him. Fighting battles
on all sides, Janet needs all the help she can get and all
the patience to deal with everyone involved. While the plot
thickens it seems that everyone has their own hidden agenda
and none of them are willing to bend and play by the rules.
So when all else fails, Janet realizes that she can only
rely on herself and her love for Mick and hope that it is
enough to save them both from the darkness that is trying
to consume them.
Action packed, I literally read this in one setting! The
plot kept me spinning, twisting, and on the edge of my seat
as I turned page after page to find out what was going to
happen next. The book is a constant struggle between life
as we want it and life as it really is. James really hits
home on the fact that we can't choose our family and we
simply can't control our friends. All we can do it give it
our best shot and hope that everyone lives in the end.
Stormwalker Janet Begay returns home only to have the ground
collapse beneath her-literally. After tumbling two hundred
feet underground, Janet is rescued by her dragon boyfriend,
Mick. But something dark touches Mick while in the sinkhole,
and Janet might lose him forever unless she recruites the
most unlikely of allies to stop the growing shadow.
