Delilah (Dela) Reese is in for the shock of her life when
she opens the ancient riddle box she bought from an old
woman in the Beijing marketplace. In a cloud of golden
smoke, Hari, a 7-foot exotic warrior, appears in Dela's
hotel room ready to fulfill her every command, though he's
not very happy about doing so. The 2000-year-old curse
placed upon Hari by an evil Magi that locked him in the box
has left Hari tired, irritable and totally disillusioned
with each new summons. However, he finds Dela to be quite
different from the others who've used (and abused) him only
for their own advancement and enjoyment.
Dela is sympathetic to Hari's plight and wants to find a
way to break his curse. But Hari, who also has the ability
to shapeshift into a magnificent tiger, is sworn to protect
his new mistress, even if she doesn't want him to do so.
And it doesn't take long for danger to threaten both of
them. Not only is someone set on murdering Dela, but the
Magi has followed Hari and the riddle box through the ages
with his own plan for vengeance.
With her unique talent for manipulating metal, as well as
reading its imprint, Dela is part of an elite detective
agency (of sorts) called Dirk & Steele. This hush-hush
group is dedicated to using psi-talent to help others, as
well as handling jobs the police or military can't, which
proves vitally important for Dela and Hari as they pursue
the answer to releasing Hari from the evil spell and
eluding the bad guys. What started out as friendship soon
evolves into a rare and passionate love. Now, if they can
just figure out how to live long enough to enjoy it.
Wow! Once I started reading TIGER EYE, I could not put it
down. Fans of Feehan and Kenyon will love this exceptional
paranormal story and should embrace Marjorie M. Liu with
great enthusiasm. Liu's distinct voice, complex characters
and unique premise make TIGER EYE a stand-out novel in the
genre. I can't wait for more from this talented author.
Long ago they roamed the earth, plentiful and powerful, men
with form of beast. Dragons, tigers, crows: shape-shifters.
Their world was magic. That world is gone, but some
remain...
HERS TO COMMAND: He looked completely out of place
in Dela
Reese's Beijing hotel room -- like he belonged to a myth,
was the tragic hero of some epic tale, exotic and poignant.
He was like nothing from her world, yet Dela had danced
through the echo of his soul, and she knew this warrior
would obey...
HIS TO PROTECT: Hari had been used and abused for
millennia; he was jaded, dull, tired. But upon his release
from the riddle box, Hari saw his new mistress was
different. In Dela's eyes he saw a hidden power; himself
within reach of all he had lost, of avenging those wrongs.
This woman was the key. If only he dared protect, where
before he had savaged; love, where before he'd known hate.
For Dela, he would dare all.
