"Delivered hot and heavy as Jackson romance fans expect, Reese Madaris falls for best friend, Kenna"

Romance Series | Romance Contemporary

LaKenna James is relocating to Houston for work but her new condo is still under construction. But she has no worries about being homeless, as her best friend, Reese Madaris has offered to let her stay with him until her place is ready. No, her worries are much more primal than where she lays her head. Kenna is in love with Reese but he is completely clueless as to her true feelings for him.

For his part, Reese is a confirmed bachelor. His cousins have begun to fall like flies, but he wants no part of that wedding train. Until he starts to see Kenna in a whole new light, and it is he, not her, who must convince the other that they are destined to be together.

Brenda Jackson is a prolific author, publishing numerous books each year. If I had to pick my top Jackson book so far in 2011, INSEPARABLE would be the one. Romance and suspense, both served hot and heavy, fill the pages of this story about LaKenna "Kenna" James and Reese Madaris. There was never a question of "if" Kenna and Reese would be together, only when and how these two would get together.

Reese Madaris is a man's man, but his best friend is gal pal Kenna. Kenna is the prototypical female-in-love-with-her- best-guy-friend-but-he-doesn't-know-it. Still, Jackson manages to breathe fresh winds through this familiar romance storyline. Begin with Kenna working for an oil industry firm and enjoying ballroom dancing. When Reese and Kenna finish the tango, they're not the only ones who need some air! Then, Reese will go the ends of the earth for his best friend, long before he realizes he's in love with Kenna. Who doesn't want a best friend like that, especially if they look and talk like Reese?

I love Jackson's work in all formats, but I think I particularly enjoy her single titles. As in INSEPARABLE, the additional story length gives her the opportunity to skillfully weave in what is an expansive and still growing backstory involving the Madaris clan. By the end of the book, one may start to feel that there's a bit too much explanation, but that's a minor sticking point in an otherwise delicious romance.

SUMMARY

Living under Reese Madaris's roof makes LaKenna James the envy of every woman in town. But Reese's offer of a place to stay is strictly platonic—just until Kenna's new condo is completed. He has no idea that his best friend has been attracted to him since college, and Kenna plans to keep it that way.

Ever since his cousin Blade got married, Reese has become Houston's most eligible bachelor—and a magnet for gold diggers. Reese turns to his temporary roommate for dating advice, and suddenly sees Kenna for the beautiful, voluptuous woman she is. Though Kenna's afraid to give her heart to the man who could so easily break it, when her life is in jeopardy, she'll discover just how far a Madaris man will go when love is at stake…
