DEMON SONG is book 3 in the stellar Blood Singer series from Cat Adams, who also wrote the Thrall and Sazi series. The first two books delivered wild rides of suspense and adventure, and DEMON SONG is no different.

Celia Graves' life has changed dramatically since she got bit by a vampire. She has to wear scads of sunscreen and only consume liquid meals. Not only that, but she learned she's half siren princess, so it's no wonder that her bodyguard business is thriving. But Celia has much more to think about than business: like the rift—sealed when Atlantis disappeared--that threatens to reopen, releasing all the demons of hell into the world at large.

Celia might have the talents to close the rift, but it will require her to work with people she no longer trusts and put those she loves in danger. And even then, she's fighting against a death curse, and all her efforts might not be enough.

Cat Adams delivers a story that will keep readers turning the pages from the outset. The authors combine suspense and adventure, mix in some heartbreak and romance for spice and have created a delectable treat for fans of urban fantasy. Celia is one of my favorite UF characters, a terrific blend of kickass heroine and a woman with many of the same problems we all share. We meet many of the same supporting cast of mages, psychics, vampires and werewolves, and many of them are further developed in this installment.

As with most urban fantasy books, the world itself doesn't require building but the society does, so the authors focus their efforts on society and the people who live within it. In Celia's world, (she lives in a fictitious southern California town) mages and psychics work out in the open, and vampires and werewolves are considered deadly and often locked up. She has a number of battles ahead of her, but readers will enjoy every page. Best news of all is it seems a book 4 is in the works, if the ending of this tale is any clue.

SUMMARY

In a world where magic is real and the supernatural is almost normal, bodyguard Celia Graves has survived a vampire attack which made her a half-vampire and awakened her latent Siren abilities. She’s battled a Siren Queen to the death and twice faced down a demon that wants to kill her--slowly. She’s also had her heart broken--twice--by her old flame, magician Bruno DeLuca.

Perhaps the worst thing was the discovery that Celia’s life has been warped by a curse laid on her during childhood--the cause of everything from the death of her little sister to the murder of her best friend the same night that Celia became an Abomination.

An ancient rift between the demonic dimension and our own-- sealed during the destruction of Atlantis--begins to open, threatening to loose all the demons of hell on humanity (including the one personally bent on destroying Celia). Celia’s hellish recent experiences have given her the unique combination of abilities needed to close the rift. But to overcome the curse, which nearly guarantees her failure, she’ll need to join forces with people she no longer trusts...and put people she has come to care about directly in harm’s way.
