Fantasy Urban
Domino Riley has taken strong steps to turn her gang from a
profit-oriented business into a group whose primary purpose
is protection of those weaker than themselves. It isn't
easy. The people she leads are not always motivated by the
new morality, but she manages to maintain a certain uneasy
balance until someone on a rival gang starts playing with
Demons and the dead begin to walk. Something is causing the souls of anyone who dies in LA to
remain within their corpse, creating a confused and almost
indestructible zombie whose sole purpose becomes finding its
next meal. As each zombie kills, the corpse becomes another
zombie causing the wave of undead to grow exponentially
throughout the high population centers of the city. Discovering the reason behind the catastrophe will involve
Domino and her partners going deeper into the Between
than ever before, risking not only her own soul but the
lives and souls of all those who depend upon her as a
leader. Gritty, raw, and hilarious, SKELETON CREW combines all the
best parts of the genre; a flawed hero, lots of action and a
cast of fascinating characters on both sides of the battle
lines, as well as a set of bad guys that might scare you
into a fresh pair of jockey shorts. Cameron Haley has created a unique and engrossing urban
fantasy series. Based on the gangs of Los Angeles where
graffiti tags create power for the gangs controlling that
neighborhood and the sector next door might be held by a
group of Fae rather than humans, she has formed a mishmash
of chaotic elements that spawns plenty of conflict and
creates a fertile ground for further books in the
Underworld Cycle.
SUMMARY
Some people fear snakes. Me? Let it be known that Domino
Riley hates zombies. Bodies are hitting the pavement in L.A. like they always
do, but this time they're getting right back up, death be
damned. My mobbed-up outfit of magicians may be the
strongest in the city, but even they aren't immune to the
living dead. And I've yet to develop a resistance to Adan Rashan. If I don't team up with the boss's son, we won't just be
at each other's throats over control of the outfit. We'll
e craving heart and brains as well. Because as long as this nasty spirit from the between is
stopping souls from finding peace, I'm facing the biggest
supernatural crisis to ever hit the City of Angels. Zombies, it's time you feared me.
