Microbiologists Ross Roundtree and Rebecca Sweet
(introduced in Dionne's first book, FREEZING POINT) are
studying Chitan, a long-dormant volcano in Chile. A film
crew arrives because they've been tipped that the volcano
may begin erupting and they want to get footage.
A Nobel Prize winning physicist decides to "help" the earth
by controlling global warming through geo-engineering.
Using the Chilean volcano, he puts a plan in place that
would ultimately block sunlight from reaching the earth --
and possibly cause unforeseen repercussions.
Dionne has written a second successful eco-thriller in
BOILING POINT, which highlights the very real struggle to
find some agreement and solution for the challenge of
global warming.
Chaiten, a long-dormant volcano in Chile, fuses the
destinies of two microbiologists, a celebrity scientist, and
a Nobel Prize-winning scientist who waits for the one sign
that his diabolical plan is about to be put into motion. For
the Earth has become a pawn in the biggest gamble ever
played with humanity's future-and Chaiten is about to blow.
