The romantic suspense story duo in DEADLIER THAN THE MALE
convinced me that, as demonstrated by the black widow, the
female of the species can in fact be deadlier than the male.
Authors Sharon Sala and Colleen Thompson have each written
a story that perfectly balances romance and suspense, and
feature well-developed characters you will either root for
or hope you never meet in real life. I thoroughly enjoyed
both stories by these best-selling authors, and am sure you
will too.
In "The Fiercest Heart" by Sharon Sala, Haley Shore returns
to Stars Crossing, Kentucky 10 years after the day of her
high school graduation ended in an accident that killed her
brother and severely injured her boyfriend, Mack Brolin.
Guilt and certainty of rejection has kept her from returning
home until she receives an anonymous letter informing her
that her father has died. Taking a chance, she reappears in
her hometown only to encounter Mack Brolin, and unexpected
danger.
In "Lethal Lessons" by Colleen Thompson, Mara Stillwell takes
a teaching job in Arizona to escape the scandal of a
jailbird ex-fiancé. She unexpectedly encounters Adam Jakes,
the father of one of her students and her former high-school
crush. Adam is still reeling from the tragic death of his
wife from an accident that has left his daughter Rebecca
withdraw into herself. As Mara bonds with Adam and Rebecca,
mysterious accidents put her life in danger as she faces off
with a jealous parent with an eye on Adam and the school
principal.
The Fiercest Heart by Sharon Sala Torn
apart years ago by a family feud and a deadly accident,
high school sweethearts Haley and Mack reunite when Haley
returns to town. But someone doesn't want them together
and will do anything to keep them apart. Anything…
Lethal Lessons by Colleen Thompson One
of Mara's students is troubled by her mother's mysterious
death. Despite warnings that the girl's father, Adam, is a
danger, Mara sees only a handsome, caring protector. Will
she uncover the truth before it's too late?
Last year Sharon Sala wrote a trilogy that reminded me why I was drawn to her in the first place and with the publication of The Fierecest Heart I was again reminded why I love Sala. Two young people torn apart because of a feud finally find their way back together, but is the path going to be free and clear or still troubled by a long running feud in which the main players are mostly deceased.
I could hardly put down Ms. Sala's contribution, and in fact when I finished I was eager to start her newest book, Blood Stains.
Lethal Lessons by Colleen Thompson wasn't quite as suspenseful, but Ms. Thompson did give me two clear people to think of as the baddie, and was I surprised when neither turned out to be the one.
Should you be looking for suspense with a twist than Deadlier Than The Male is the book to pick. (Sandi Shilhanek 12:19pm February 20, 2011)
