The owners of Second Chances are in the middle of planning
the second wedding of their new career, and they can't
afford any mess-ups. Each person knows this high-profile
wedding could make or break their business.
Elaine decides she's tired of her life and wants a
makeover, inside and out. Lily is more than willing to
help, taking Elaine to a spa and shopping for clothes.
Becoming a blonde and giving up her polyester for a stylish
look, Elaine is ready to do her part for Second Chances.
She isn't sure what that is until she approaches her father
for his secret recipes and seeks his help creating a
marvelous dinner for their client. Not only do they create
magic in the kitchen, but a long-time riff between father
and daughter is mended.
Sarah lets Elaine know she doesn't like her new look. The
problem isn't that Elaine got a new look, it's Sarah's
personal life. Her rock-star boyfriend wants to move to the
city and so does their son. Sarah wants to stay and see
what happens with Second Chances.
Jo decides all men are creeps after she agreed to have
dinner with Jack, a man she met in the parking garage, and
learns he has a wife and children. Her father left her as a
child for another woman, and the only man she's ever loved
left her after he embezzled all her money. The only man she
can count on is their receptionist, Andrew, and he's gay.
Jo learns, however, that her father wasn't a part of her
life because he was made to stay away.
Andrew knows he can't continue his lie when he realizes he
can't be seen at the wedding. The reporters would instantly
know him and blow his cover. Deciding he'll confide in
someone, he chooses Elaine and tells her everything,
including how he really feels about Jo. As if the stress of
his multiple lives isn't enough, Andrew is also faced with
the possibility of losing his daughter to his ex-wife, who
walked out on them years ago. Wanting to protect his
daughter, he plans to go to Australia for a visit. He tells
Jo everything about himself, except that he loves her.
When the Benson wedding goes off without a hitch, they know
Second Chances is really on its way. Jo also lets Andrew
know she's interested in him.
TWICE UPON A WEDDING is the second book in a series, and it
was as good as the first -- ONCE UPON A BRIDE. The
characters have great personalities and have so much drama
in their lives, it's fun to watch them work it all out. A
great weekend book, I can't wait until the next one comes
out.
With their fledgling business Second Chances facing its
first big break, four best friends turned wedding
consultants face second chances–and challenges–of their own.
For always-practical, always-predictable Elaine, it’s a time
for a total makeover... but is the new “dream-her” really
her? For Lily, the free-spirited, free-spending sprite, it
was the chance to find the one thing missing from her life
that not even money could buy. And while Sarah, the
self-reliant artist, faces a crisis that proves just how
much she needs her friends, ex-publicist Jo is tantalizingly
closer to true love than she can ever possibly imagine.
Ex-husbands, computer dating, teenage kids–the world’s much
different than when they first said “I do,” but one thing’s
the same: they’re all hoping their second chance will be a
charm.
