Life in New York is perfect for country music DJ Margo
Gentry: the perfect job, a live-in boyfriend, great friends,
and enough money to quench her thirst for Elvis memorabilia.
Being named the nation's best Country DJ is just icing on
the cake. That is, until her life gets all shock up. When
Mom expects her presence in Los Angeles at wedding number
11(!), her boyfriend demands marriage (ain't gonna happen
ever, with anyone!), and her country station turns Korean
jazz, Margo finds herself jobless, homeless, and just a
little hopeless.
To get her life back on track while taking a much needed
vacation, Margo sets out on a combination road trip to LA
and Elvis pilgrimage. Her driver and companion is Chris,
best friend and inventor of the kiss test which he uses to
determine if a woman is worth pursuing. He has kissed many
frogettes, but has yet to find his princess. Will this road
trip change that?
In THE KISS TEST, Shannon McKelden creatively uses the
titles of Elvis songs to structure this tale of friendship
transforming into romance. THE KISS TEST was well written
with Chris and Margo encountering some entertaining
obstacles on the road to Graceland, LA, and romance. As I
read the story, I felt like I needed a little more from the
story for it to be truly engaging: a little more funny,
character's a little more likable, and the plot a little
more fast-paced.
